The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.

About the role




The individual in this role is tasked with operating a forklift or yard dog to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count materials. The Operator is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of the vehicle and potentially performing Order Filler and Checker duties. Must safely load, transport, and unload structural fabrications and assemblies over short and long distances. Drivers must be familiar with construction site conditions and safety requirements. General responsibilities include maintaining proper logs, adherence to company, TXDOT, and other applicable policies and regulations, and preoperative vehicle inspections.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and transport materials to designated storage locations.
  • Load outbound shipments efficiently and safely, adhering to established loading procedures.
  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
  • Pull and prepare material for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and product type is loaded and shipped.
  • Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage materials using a forklift or other power equipment.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials neat, clean, and orderly. Inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently following prescribed work methods.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to maintain tight inventory control and security. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as required.


Skills and Specifications:

  • Knowledge, skill and ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Knowledge, skill and ability to safely operate a yard dog
  • Safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck.
  • Properly track and document activity log.
  • Report any issues or incidents to dispatch.
  • Inspect the truck before and after the trip.
  • Deliver product/material promptly throughout the route.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and paperwork.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people during work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.


Education and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Forklift Certification
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl, talk or hear, taste, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required b the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 25 USD per hour (Central Texas Shop)
