The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.

Summary/Objective:

The EHS Coordinator provides essential support to both field and corporate safety teams by managing safety documentation, assisting with training and orientations, and helping ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, specifically those related to Metal Fabrication and Steel Erection in the Construction Industry (29 CFR 1926 Subpart R). This role serves as a critical link between field operations and safety administration, ensuring accurate records, smooth communication, and timely follow-up on safety initiatives.

Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):   

• Support field operations by assisting field Safety Technicians and site supervision with implementing company safety policies and procedures.
• Track and maintain employee training records, certifications, and safety qualifications using Excel, SharePoint, and/or safety management software (e.g., Safety Indicators, SiteDocs, Procore).
• Assist in conducting new-hire orientations to ensure employees understand company safety expectations, PPE requirements, fall protection procedures, and other foundational safety practices.
• Generate and update safety dashboards, spreadsheets, and reports for leadership review (including TRIR, DART, incident trends, and training compliance).
• Organize, manage, and file safety documentation such as inspection forms, JSAs, near-miss reports, and incident investigation documents.
• Conduct or support field safety inspections, document corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up and close-out.
• Coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and refresher trainings; ensure attendance records are accurate and complete.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining OSHA-required documentation including the OSHA 300 Log, incident reports, and site-specific safety plans.
• Communicate regularly with field leaders to track training needs, monitor expiring certifications, and maintain up-to-date safety data.
•   Provide general administrative support to the safety team, including scheduling, data entry, formatting documents, and supporting safety communications.

Education/Experience:

• Experience in a fabrication or construction environment preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in safety coordination, safety administration, or construction support.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and/or Google Workspace.
• Experience maintaining databases, spreadsheets, or digital record-keeping systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and follow-through skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Technically proficient and comfortable using digital tools for reporting, documentation, and communication.
• Strong commitment to maintaining accurate and compliant safety and training records.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with field personnel, office staff, and leadership teams.
• Continual improvement – One must continually grow one’s craft by learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself.

Certificates and Licenses:

• OSHA 30 Construction Certificate
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position operates primarily in a climate-controlled office setting adjacent to an active steel fabrication and production facility, with periodic visits to active construction sites. Duties may also require time spent in non-climate-controlled production, manufacturing, or field/construction environments.

The role involves regular interaction with shop personnel and exposure to typical industrial conditions, including elevated noise levels, dust, and proximity to operating machinery. When entering fabrication areas, production environments, or construction sites, the employee is required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include but is not limited to: hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, gloves, steel-toe or protective footwear, and hearing protection.

This position frequently uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. While the noise level is generally moderate in office spaces, hearing protection is required in designated high-noise areas. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, walk, or maintain balance, as well as stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position.  Hours of work may change based upon the needs of the business.
