Summary/Objective:

The Production Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall operation of the production facility at their designated location. They will have direct oversight of the day-to-day management of people and resources associated with the production facility and coordinate the activities to ensure production in a cost-effective and safety-oriented manner. The Superintendent will spend time managing employees and planning for productivity. The Superintendent will assure all designated processes and procedures are met and communicate routinely with relevant stakeholders. 

Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):   

  • Provides guidance and coordinates among managers giving priority to customer needs and schedules to supply a quality product, along with ability to provide information regarding financial impact of production scheduling and workload.
  • Supervises, directs and coordinates activities concerned with production.  This would include utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods, procedures, standards and machine or equipment capability.
  • Plans and directs production activities and priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Reviews, collaborates with stakeholders, and obtains knowledge of each project’s specifications and requirements as required for production completion.
  • Coordinate with designated stakeholders to provide updates and amend any necessary programs, processes and/or procedures as required (AISC Code of Standard Practice).
  • Coordinate with various other departments including but not limited to, Safety, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Project Management and Field Operations to ensure that timelines are met, department and/or site-specific guidelines are followed, training sessions and recertifications are maintained at the appropriate cadence and facilitate overall operational coordination, reporting and communications on behalf of Production.
  • Works with Quality Assurance to review and analyze causes of non-conformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.

Education/Experience:  

  • 5+ years of experience in a related manufacturing environment with strong supervisory skills. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of construction practices and standards of production ironworks and construction.
  • Continual improvement – Must continually be growing one’s craft learning new tools and techniques to manage oneself.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and experience operating a safe work environment.
  • Ability to read and understand production blueprints.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • OSHA 10
  • Welding Certification(s)


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly responsible for all production operations employees working in various capacities, including but not limited to administrative support and fabrication.

This position operates mainly on the production floor and occasionally in the professional office environment, of a production and structural erection organization, therefore, the incumbent’s responsibilities may take them to various environments.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position.  Hours of work may change based upon the needs of the business.
