We are looking for a highly motivated Commercial Sales Representative to add to our team of commercial fence experts. This role requires a candidate who isn’t afraid to stop by a construction site to see what fencing is needed, respond to a bid request, or to build a new client relationship. This candidate also needs to be computer savvy, exceptionally detail-oriented, familiar with the construction industry, and self-motivated. In this role, you will work alongside our experienced sales, estimating, and operations teams to master the craft of commercial fence sales. It’s a fast-paced role with endless opportunities to build new business, new skills, and contribute to the bottom line of our commercial team and the business at large.
Position Overview
The Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for client relationship management, identifying opportunities and providing proposals for bid, and coordinating execution of the project with the client and the Peerless Fence commercial operations and installation teams. The Commercial Sales Representative ensures the successful and seamless completion of this process while also acting as a point of contact for the projects they have sold. Whether it's the initial contract, a change onsite, or other site challenges that arise, this role is managing the communication, paperwork, and costs associated with that project. This position is primarily focused on the following objectives:
- Identifying prospective projects and responding to project estimate inquiries
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Preparing contracts and customer agreements, submitting documents necessary to the estimating and bidding process
- Problem solving: Everything from identifying customer needs and proposing solutions to responding to project challenges and changes (ahead of time or onsite) to meet customer expectations and project completion goals
The Commercial Sales Representative is responsible for meeting or exceeding monthly and annual sales goals, fulfilling customer needs, and doing so with a commitment to delivering the Peerless Promise of Quality, Service, & Integrity.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reviewing blueprints and plans, identifying fence opportunities and providing quotes per listed specs
- Respond to private business project inquiries and bid requests - provide proposals based on client needs and spec requirements
- Use a solution selling approach to estimating projects
- Prepare and follow up on submittals for approval
- Completing qualification forms, general bid documents, and bid or performance bonds
- Entering all project orders in Salesforce and maintain documentation of project updates
- Executing client and project follow up as required
- Ensure all documents and billing information have been completed on behalf of the company, and follow up accordingly until the project has been paid in full
- Cultivate strong relationships with general contractors and direct customers (private businesses, municipalities, park districts, etc...)
Required Skills and Experience
- Fence industry experience, preferably in commercial fence sales experience
- Minimum of 3 years previous sales and/or project management experience in the construction industry
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team while maintaining and taking the initiative on your own book of business
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and duties
- Strong computer skills: Must have familiarity with email, basic internet skills, word processing programs, spreadsheets, etc...
- General understanding of construction, reading building plans, blueprints
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Extroverted personality - the ability to approach anyone in-person, over the phone, or via email regarding a project opportunity
- Associates degree or higher preferred
- Degree in Construction Management
- Experience with Salesforce CRM a plus
- Experience with Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets - a plus

Salary: $65,000-$75,000 base pay per year, plus commission based on sales goals being met or exceeded.
