About the role
The Petersen Automotive Museum seeks an intern to work as part of its Education team to assist with the development of virtual school tour programs. The Education Intern will learn about automotive history and design and use that knowledge to help design lesson plans to be utilized by educators at home or in the classroom. The intern would also be taught informal museum teaching techniques by assisting with onsite community programming, including occasional work in the Rob Walton Discovery Center, our family focused gallery.
For their main project, the Education Intern will develop a multi-dimensional lesson plan covering one topic related to the automobile to be utilized by teachers or at home educators in the classroom. The intern will conduct a research project into an aspect of the Petersen collection or automotive industry that they find fascinating, and then develop a lesson plan to cover the topic utilizing multiple subjects. During the course of their internship, they will develop an outline, develop a resource list and budget, create activity worksheets, test activities with the public, and demonstrate learning objectives.
Interested candidates must meet the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship eligibility guidelines as spelled out by the Getty Organization.
