 Job Title: Director of Data Engineering

Location: Hybrid / Remote

Reports To: CTO 

Compensation: Up to $180k + Bonus + Equity

Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic, and technically skilled Director of Data Engineering to lead our data initiatives across the organization. This role will blend DevOps, modern data infrastructure, and traditional data management practices to build and scale our data platform. You'll work cross-functionally to design and implement data architecture, pipelines, governance, and analytics capabilities that empower business intelligence, product development, and AI-driven innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of our data architecture and infrastructure using AWS, Postgres, Snowflake, and associated technologies.
  • Oversee and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using FiveTran, Airbyte, and manage data activation via High Touch and similar technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders to define and implement scalable data solutions.
  • Guide the integration and application of AI/ML tooling to support data products and business intelligence.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, security, privacy, and governance.
  • Support DevOps practices related to data including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and system monitoring.
  • Build and mentor a team of data engineers and analysts to support business and technical data needs.
  • Own the data roadmap and drive key initiatives across the data lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, DevOps, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Deep experience with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, FiveTran, Airbyte, High Touch and modern data stack tools.
  • Familiarity with AI tooling, model deployment, and data science workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL etc..
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end data solutions from ingestion to visualization.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
