Careers at Petfolk

Manager, Email Marketing

Petfolk is reimagining veterinary care,  blending the warmth of a neighborhood vet with the efficiency of modern technology. We’re a fast-growing, pet-obsessed company building something genuinely better for pets and the people who love them. Our team is scrappy, mission-driven, and moves fast.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Manager, Email Marketing to own our lifecycle marketing strategy end-to-end. You’ll be the architect behind how we communicate with pet parents, from their first visit to becoming lifelong Petfolk advocates. This role sits at the intersection of data, creativity, and automation, and you’ll have real ownership over the channels and tools that drive retention and engagement.

You’ll report to our Senior Director of Growth Marketing and work cross-functionally with product, operations, and the clinical team to build messaging that feels personal, timely, and genuinely useful. This role is fully autonomous with a lean team. No red tape.

We’re not looking for someone to just manage our first-party data. We’re looking for someone who solves problems on their own, is inspired by month-over-month improvements, and is always looking for efficiency gains in the most unique ways possible.

What You'll Do

  • Own and execute Petfolk's CRM strategy across email, SMS, and push with Braze as your primary platform
  • Build, manage, and optimize lifecycle journeys including onboarding, appointment reminders, re-engagement, and retention flows
  • Develop segmentation strategies using behavioral, transactional, and demographic data to ensure the right message reaches the right pet parent at the right time
  • Own the KPIs that matter open rates, click-through, conversion, churn reduction, LTV  and build reporting cadences that keep stakeholders aligned on what's working and what's not
  • Build and maintain dashboards that give cross-functional partners (marketing, ops, clinical) clear visibility into lifecycle performance without needing to ask you for it
  • Write and collaborate on copy for campaigns you don't need to be a copywriter, but you should have strong instincts for tone and clarity
  • Use Liquid to build dynamic, personalized email content think conditional blocks based on pet type, appointment history, location, or lifecycle stage
  • Comfortable working in Braze's drag-and-drop and HTML editors to QA, troubleshoot, and refine email rendering across clients and devices
  • Analyze campaign performance, run A/B tests, and translate results into actionable optimizations
  • Manage our SMS program in compliance with TCPA/CTIA guidelines
  • Partner with the data team to maintain clean, reliable audience segments and reporting
  • Stay current on CRM best practices, deliverability, and platform updates
  • Bonus points if you can design or polish email templates yourself we're not looking for a full-time designer, but a solid eye for layout, hierarchy, and mobile-first design goes a long way
  • Show us how you're already using AI to work smarter whether that's generating copy variations, building test frameworks, accelerating QA, automating reporting summaries, or prototyping email designs. We care less about which tools and more about the mindset.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of CRM or lifecycle marketing experience, ideally in a consumer-facing or healthcare-adjacent brand
  • Hands-on Braze expertise — you should be comfortable building Canvases, setting up custom events, managing Content Blocks, and pulling performance data without needing hand-holding
  • Strong understanding of email deliverability, list hygiene, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, TCPA)
  • Analytical mindset — you’re comfortable in dashboards, can interpret data, and use it to make decisions without direction
  • Experience with SMS marketing programs is a strong plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
  • A genuine love for pets is not required, but it helps

Nice to Have

  • Experience at a multi-location healthcare, wellness, or service brand
  • Familiarity with Segment, Amplitude, or similar data/analytics tools
  • Background working with clinical or appointment-based communications

The Kind of Person Who Does Well Here

  • Someone who takes ownership and figures things out without needing a lot of direction.
  • Detail-oriented in a practical way—you catch things that slip through and you fix them.
  • Comfortable with the mix of strategic work and hands-on execution that comes with a role like this.
  • Direct about what's working and what isn't.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary + equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Complementary and discounted veterinary care for your pets 🐾
  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • A team that genuinely cares about what they’re building
