Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate interpreters' qualifications to ensure compliance with DOJ EOIR standards.
  • Design and conduct oral and written assessments to determine interpreter suitability for assignments.
  • Provide detailed performance feedback and prepare reports for management.
  • Collaborate with training teams to enhance interpreters' skills based on evaluation results.
  • Identify performance trends and recommend improvements for service quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of evaluations, certifications, and performance metrics for compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for interpreters regarding evaluation processes.
  • Work with government representatives to ensure adherence to quality standards and address concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Language Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a court interpreter, interpreter evaluator, or quality control specialist, preferably in legal or government environments.
  • Federal, state, or NAJIT certification in interpretation preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and the target language, with demonstrated expertise in legal, criminal justice, and immigration terminology.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback to interpreters.
  • Familiarity with DOJ, EOIR, or other federal language service standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual, preferably Spanish

Requirements

  • Knowledge of EOIR procedures and DOJ language service protocols.
  • Experience in quality assurance within language services.
  • US citizenship or permanent residency.
