Phenome Health is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research organization established in 2021 to contribute solutions to major challenges causing a health crisis. Our team, led by internationally recognized visionary scientist Lee Hood, is promoting a radical paradigm change—namely shifting from a reactive system that focuses on treating disease to a proactive system focused on optimizing health. Phenome Health is partnering with research participants to build a disease-agnostic discovery framework. We are leveraging advancements in biotechnologies, digital health, and AI to execute projects that will drive personalized and equitable medicine of the future.

About the Role
Recent advancements in phenomics—technologies that enable the broad profiling of the dynamic aspects of biology—are paving the way for deep understanding of human health and disease, driven by data. Phenome Health’s research platform integrates new and existing data with a variety of analytical techniques, from knowledge graphs to AI and large language models.
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join the Phenome Health team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dynamical systems analysis and a passion for applying engineering principles to complex biological problems. This role requires a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, with a focus on developing innovative solutions to challenging problems. As a Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design and analysis of data from real-world human studies that seek to understand the temporal dynamics of the human phenome. You will play a key role in the development of software tools and pipelines, with the opportunity to contribute to the publication of scientific articles.

What You Will Do
Qualifications
PhD in Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Strong foundation in dynamical systems theory and analysis
Experience in object-oriented programming and software engineering
Proficiency in machine learning and AI techniques
Familiarity with biological data and systems
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
