Research Nutritionist/Dietitian

Phenome Health – Seattle, WA (Hybrid: 3 days on-site / 2 days remote)


Position Summary

The Research Nutritionist/Dietitian role is a unique position for an experienced nutrition professional who is passionate about using data to personalize medicine and transform healthcare. The individual in this role plays a pivotal role in advancing Phenome Health's mission by contributing to the design and implementation of multi-omic lifestyle intervention studies, as well as developing content related to clinically-actionable recommendations. Reporting to the Chief Translational Science Officer, this role involves translating novel scientific discoveries resulting from analysis of multi-omic data into actionable strategies for disease prevention, management, and enhancement of overall wellness. The Research Nutritionist/Dietitian is responsible for assisting with clinical research study designs, ensuring accurate data collection, coordinating cross-functional collaboration, and supporting effective clinical and translational knowledge dissemination. Success in this position requires close collaboration with internal teams including engineering, data science, operations, communications, and business development, as well as external stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, mission-focused environment and is dedicated to driving impactful health outcomes through rigorous, evidence-based research.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scientific literature review and synthesis: Monitor and distill peer-reviewed research to inform study aims, intervention components, and hypotheses, and to track emerging biomarkers for disease focus areas relevant to Phenome Health.
  • Scientific writing and content generation: Develop content for participants, health coaches, and clinicians to support clinical research projects, as well as public-facing resources and clinician education materials that turn complex findings into actionable guidance.
  • Protocol and intervention design: Assist in the creation of clinical study protocols and develop evidence-based lifestyle interventions to improve sleep, stress management, nutrition, exercise, and health-promoting behavior change.
  • Questionnaire selection: Identify, vet, and adapt questionnaires and patient-reported outcome measures for each study.
  • Regulatory and data systems: May assist with the preparation of IRB submissions and manage study data in REDCap or related electronic clinical data platforms.
  • Team collaboration: Coordinate with engineering, data science, operations, and communications teams to keep projects on track and maximize collective impact.

Requirements

  • Hybrid: Seattle headquarters, at least three on-site days per week with option for two remote days.
  • Occasional travel (< 5%) for conferences or partner meetings.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition required; Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years coordinating or implementing human-subject research.
  • Solid knowledge of human physiology, nutrition, exercise science, sleep, stress, and behavior-change theory.  Familiarity with nutritional genetics is desirable.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Demonstrates a high level of focus on meeting deadlines and adhering to budget constraints.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong technological proficiency, including experience with e-CRF/EDC platforms for study development and data management (e.g., REDCap) and emerging commercial AI tools for reviewing and summarizing scientific literature.
  • Proficient in navigating PubMed and conducting rigorous evidence appraisals.
  • Exceptional proficiency in scientific writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Agility and self-directed work style, coupled with effective upward communication and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, startup environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $80,000-95,000 depending on skills and experience.
