About Phillips Farms LLC
Phillips Farms is a 300 acre, family-operated farm in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. We produce a wide range of fruits and vegetables. We also grow a variety of ornamental plants in our greenhouses. During the summer months, we invite customers onto our farm to pick their own fruit and enjoy a day outside with their families.
About the role
- The Floater position is able to perform a variety of roles at our Market, including baking, caring for plants, working on the register, stocking, or helping out at Pick-Your-Own.
What you'll do
- This position is for someone who prefers variety
- You will be trained in several different areas, including baking, gardening, and working the register
- Your schedule will be created in advance, so you will always know which job you are doing before the start of the day
- You will be scheduled as needed across these various jobs
- In the baker position:
- Complete daily list of items to be baked
- Adhere to food safety standards
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
- Gardening:
- Water plants, using the correct fertilizer as needed
- Keep outside/ plant area looking orderly and appealing
- Assist customers in answering plant-related questions
- Ensure plant items are barcoded and have correct price signs
- Keep plants healthy and attractive
- Stocking:
- Complete required inventories
- Help restock produce on the floor, communicate with the farm if more produce is needed
- Ensure quality of any produce items sold at our Market
- Organize produce coolers and receiving area
- Cashier:
- Ring up customer purchases, weigh produce, run the cash register, give correct change, and accurately process credit card transactions.
- Count the money in the register drawer precisely at the beginning and end of the shift and recap all sales/transactions accurately.
- Be up-to-date on product changes including price, sizes, and types
- Correctly identify fruits, vegetables, and plants when entering items into the system during a transaction
Qualifications
- Weekend and holiday hours are required
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Minimum age 18
- Able to stand for long hours at a time
- Strong work ethic
- Must be flexible to perform different tasks and adapt to a constantly changing work environment
