About the Role

We are seeking an experienced data privacy compliance specialist to join our dynamic and growing team. This role presents a unique opportunity to be a part of an expanding compliance function, offering significant development and progression opportunities as the company scales its operations globally.


Reporting to the Head of Legal and Regulatory Compliance, you will lead Picklebet’s privacy function by advising on data privacy matters and managing the end-to-end privacy program. In the rapidly changing privacy landscape, you will handle cutting-edge and novel privacy issues in a strategic manner amidst a fast-paced environment with deadline-driven objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of privacy policies and frameworks, ensuring they align with Picklebet’s business goals and data assets.
  • Collaborate directly with Product and Engineering teams to embed privacy requirements into the design phase of all new products, services, and business arrangements.
  • Provide solution-oriented advice on complex regulatory risks, balancing legal compliance with the need to maximize the strategic value of company data.
  • Manage the end-to-end incident response process—including risk assessments and remediation—while monitoring third-party vendors to ensure they meet privacy standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for global and federal data protection authorities while driving internal privacy awareness through ongoing staff training.


Ideally you have:

  • 2+ years of experience managing complex privacy and security issues, with deep knowledge of Australian privacy laws (OAIC) and international standards like GDPR.
  • Proven background in online consumer services, specifically involving cloud computing, data analytics, and digital governance.
  • Ability to drive global privacy strategy and navigate ambiguous situations by providing practical, real-world guidance to the business.
  • Skilled at educating and collaborating with legal, technical, and marketing teams to translate complex regulatory schemes into actionable plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with specific experience negotiating privacy provisions in commercial contracts and interfacing with regulators.
  • Strong strategic thinker capable of managing a diverse workload and proactively identifying potential data risks.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Finance, or Commerce, and industry certifications like CIPP (or equivalent).
