Pioneer Athletics/Cleveland Browns– Seasonal Internship
Pioneer Athletics and the Cleveland Browns are seeking a highly motivated turf management student for the upcoming Season. This internship offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work closely with the Browns field staff and in the Research and Development Department of Pioneer Athletics. This candidate will gain hands-on experience in the exciting and fast-paced environment of a professional football team and participate in R&D projects. Applicants must be enrolled in coursework working toward a degree in Turf Grass Management or related field and be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a 2 or 4-year university in a turf program.
Timeframe:
This is a paid internship from May 15th through August 15th with flexibility based on your school schedule. College students finishing school in May are also encouraged to apply.
Accepting resumes through November 17th, 2025. A reference letter from your professor or an individual connected to your course studies should be included with your submission. Applicants will be contacted beginning starting in December for phone interviews.
Key Responsibilities of this Internship:
· Maintain a professional NFL stadium field, and landscape including mowing, painting, fertilizing and cultivating activities;
· Maintain the sports field at a Research Facility located nearby;
· Participate in research and development projects with a research company;
· Work and learn about a variety of synthetic and natural grasses such as Bermuda, Rye, Tall Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass;
· Sod work, fertilization and pest management; and
· Repair and maintain the field when team is away; and basic maintenance and care of field equipment.
Skills Required:
· Coursework toward college or graduate degree in Turf Grass Management or related field;
· Available to work minimum of 40 hours per week, weekends and holidays;
· Requires extensive physical labor in all weather conditions;
· Ability to operate grounds and landscape maintenance equipment;
· Ability to push/pull/lift/move 50+ pounds and be exposed to temperature extremes; and
· Other duties as assigned by the staff of the Cleveland Browns and Pioneer Athletics;
Compensation: $20/hour with time and a half paid after 40-hour week. Candidate is expected to work a minimum of 40 hours/week. Housing and transportation not included.
However, we offer a housing stipend for candidates
relocating from areas beyond easy commuting distance to our workplace.
