Software Engineer/Algorithm Developer

Venator Solutions is a high-tech small business division of the ACCELINT family of companies specializing in unique data fusion, tracking, signal processing, and sensor automation technologies. 


We are currently seeking a talented, motivated engineer with software development skills and a strong background in AI/ML, mathematics, engineering, or physics and software development and integration to create cutting edge software algorithms within a collaborative small-team environment. 


Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Support the design, development, and integration of technical solutions.
  • Utilize strong mathematical and engineering foundations to implement and advance AI/ML algorithms, including applications involving probability and statistics, estimation theory, machine learning, graph theory, optimization techniques, and linear algebra.
  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications using MATLAB, Java, Python, and TensorFlow.
  • Design and implement performance-critical software components in C/C++, preferably within Linux-based environments.


Required Qualifications 

  • 2-5 years or more of engineering experience
  • Sufficient mathematical and/or engineering understanding to support advanced application of AI/ML algorithms (such as experience with or coursework in probability and statistics, estimation theory, machine learning, graph theory, optimization techniques, and/or linear algebra)
  • Experience with MATLAB, Java, Python, TensorFlow
  • Experience with C/C++, preferably in a Linux environment
  • Interpersonal skills needed to support customer interactions, team collaboration, and business growth in areas of technical expertise
  • Secret Clearance
  • B.S. degree in engineering or a related discipline


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Navy Sonar Systems or other government system development programs
  • M.S. degree, thesis work, and/or engineering experience in areas related to AI/machine learning, signal processing, or probabilistic reasoning
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Design
  • GUI development experience, potentially in Java, Unity, or Godot and related development packages
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid in technical presentations, proposal writing, etc.
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly

Clearance Requirements 

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.  Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).  In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment. The listed pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this position for the location for which it has been posted and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Other compensation considerations may include, but are not limited to, job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, or other applicable factors.

The pay range for this role is: $125,000-140,000 USD per year (San Diego, CA)
