Advanced Energy United (United) is seeking a full-time Policy Principal to join the Texas Advanced Energy Business Alliance (TAEBA) team and lead the organization’s engagement at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). This Austin-based role will be responsible for managing TAEBA’s day-to-day ERCOT strategy, stakeholder engagement, written comments, member coordination, and relationship-building with ERCOT staff, leadership, market participants, and other key stakeholders.

The Policy Principal will serve as TAEBA’s lead staff person in the ERCOT stakeholder process, tracking market rule changes and policy developments, identifying opportunities and risks for advanced energy technologies, and developing high-quality regulatory comments, presentations, memos, and other advocacy materials. The role will require close coordination with TAEBA member companies and United colleagues to ensure that TAEBA’s ERCOT engagement is strategic, technically credible, timely, and aligned with organizational priorities.

This position is ideal for a motivated self-starter with experience in energy policy, electricity markets, regulatory advocacy, or related technical analysis. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with complex market rules and technical materials, translating them into clear recommendations, and representing TAEBA in high-stakes stakeholder settings. • Draft, coordinate, and file TAEBA’s ERCOT comments, position statements, presentations, letters, memos, and other written materials related to market rules, protocols, guides, procedures, and stakeholder initiatives.
  • Develop and execute ERCOT-focused policy and advocacy strategies that support advanced energy technologies, competitive markets, grid reliability, consumer savings, and expanded opportunities for TAEBA member companies.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with ERCOT staff and leadership, market participants, TAEBA members, regulators, policymakers, coalition partners, and other key stakeholders in the Texas electricity market.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate ERCOT policy and market developments that may affect advanced energy technologies, including distributed energy resources, virtual power plants, demand response, energy storage, transmission, interconnection, resource adequacy, ancillary services, and market design.
  • Coordinate closely with TAEBA members to identify priorities, gather technical input, resolve member feedback, and ensure that TAEBA’s positions reflect the needs and expertise of its business coalition.
  • Brief TAEBA and United colleagues on ERCOT developments, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations; prepare internal summaries and member-facing updates as needed.
  • Brief TAEBA and United colleagues on ERCOT developments, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations; prepare internal summaries and member-facing updates as needed.
  • Work with United’s communications team to identify opportunities to elevate TAEBA’s ERCOT priorities through earned media, op-eds, public statements, events, and other communications strategies.
  • Support TAEBA’s broader Texas policy work as needed, particularly where ERCOT issues intersect with PUCT proceedings, legislative implementation, market reforms, transmission planning, reliability, and distributed energy resource policy.
