Canada Rocket Company

BIM/CAD Designer, Infrastructure

About Canada Rocket Company

Canada Rocket Company is developing Canada's first medium-lift launch vehicle.

We are a team of veterans from SpaceX, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, ArianeGroup, Pangea Propulsion, Tesla, MDA, and more, bringing over a century of combined launch and space systems experience back to Canada.

Our mission is to provide reliable, independent access to space for Canada and its allies in a rapidly expanding global market.

Our approach is defined by pragmatic engineering:

  • We utilize a single 725 kN engine that scales from light- to medium-lift via engine clustering.
  • We lean on simple, proven technologies to reach orbit faster, avoiding the pitfalls of complex or novel designs.
  • We test early and often, catching problems on the bench instead of at the pad.

Backed by over $20M in funding secured within our first four months, including the largest all-Canadian seed round in the sector and an $8.3M Department of National Defence grant, we are moving with the speed and institutional backing required to meet Canada’s orbital launch needs.

About the role

Canada Rocket Company is building the infrastructure that gets rockets built, tested, and launched. We’re looking for a BIM/CAD Designer to build and run the models and drawings behind every CRC site — and to keep them current while our requirements are still moving.

You run the model. Working with the design team, you turn mark-ups, sketches, and changing requirements into coordinated models and drawing sets for architecture, electrical, mechanical, and structural, fast enough that the design team can test options instead of guessing. This role is open at the intermediate or senior level; at the senior level, you also set up the BIM standards and document control the team runs on.

This role is part of CRC’s infrastructure group, a small team built to take our test, launch, and manufacturing sites from concept to operation: design defines it, supply chain sources it, construction builds it, and facilities runs it. You run the models and drawings the design team works from, working alongside the architecture, electrical, mechanical, and structural leads. The team is deliberately lean, so the boundaries below describe where accountability sits, not where your involvement stops.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain coordinated Revit models across architecture, electrical, mechanical, and structural.
  • Produce drawing sets for design review, permit, tender, and construction.
  • Develop layout options and test fits for the factory and other sites as requirements evolve.
  • Run clash detection and coordinate models across the design team and with contractors.
  • Maintain campus maps, existing-conditions models, and as-builts, including converting vendor drawings, PDFs, and scans into Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Manage the drawing register, revisions, and transmittals.
  • At the senior level: set up the BIM execution plan, templates, standards, and the team’s common data environment.

What You’re Not Responsible For

  • Day-to-day field execution, trade contractor supervision, and site safety — owned by the Construction Manager.
  • Sourcing, purchase order issuance, and vendor commercial terms — owned by Supply Chain.
  • Ongoing operation and maintenance of completed facilities — owned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Engineering and architectural design decisions and sealing — owned by the architecture, electrical, mechanical, and structural leads.

Qualifications

Required

  • Diploma or degree in architectural or engineering technology, architecture, or engineering.
  • 7+ years producing BIM models and construction drawings for industrial or commercial facilities across multiple disciplines.
  • Expert in Revit and AutoCAD; proficient in Bluebeam.
  • Experience with clash detection and multi-party model coordination.
  • Able to work on-site at our Toronto facility, with regular travel to our test, launch, and factory sites.
  • Comfortable in a startup environment where process is still being built.

Nice To Have

  • For the senior level: experience writing BIM execution plans and standing up drawing standards and document control.
  • Manufacturing, process, or heavy-industrial facility experience.
  • Point cloud and laser scan to model workflows.
  • CET or equivalent designation.
