CNY Feeds, a family-owned feed mill located in Jordan, NY, is seeking a self-motivated individual for the full-time position of Receiving & Warehouse Operator. We have been in business for more than 30 years, primarily serving regional dairy farms. Our facility is located approximately 10 miles west of Syracuse.

Summary

The Receiving & Warehouse Operator is responsible for receiving bulk and packaged ingredients delivered by rail car, bulk truck, and van trailer. Packaged ingredients include pallets of bags and totes.

This position maintains accurate ingredient inventories, inspects incoming shipments, collects product samples, unloads and stores materials, and supplies ingredients to the feed-production system. Responsibilities include transferring bulk ingredients into designated bins via receiving pits and adding bagged ingredients to micro ingredients bins or bulk bins via receiving pits.

The position requires attention to detail, basic math skills, physical strength, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently. Most of the work will involve receiving and warehouse responsibilities, with additional duties performed throughout the feed mill as needed.

Starting pay is $24.50 per hour, plus a $2 per hour night-shift differential for qualifying hours. Higher starting pay may be available based on experience and relevant skills. The position includes full healthcare benefits and an opportunity to earn semiannual performance bonuses that may exceed 15% of annual wages.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive bulk ingredients delivered by rail car and bulk truck.
• Receive pallets of bagged ingredients and totes delivered by van trailer.
• Inspect incoming trailers, rail cars, seals, products, and packaging for damage, contamination, or other discrepancies.
• Verify bills of lading, product descriptions, quantities, lot numbers, and other receiving information.
• Collect ingredient samples and verify product quality before unloading.
• Document and report shortages, damaged products, quality concerns, and receiving discrepancies.
• Safely unload van trailers using forklifts.
• Move received ingredients to their designated warehouse storage locations.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and accessible warehouse.
• Rotate inventory and follow first-in, first-out procedures where applicable.
• Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate shortages or discrepancies to management and production personnel.
• Move bagged and tote ingredients from warehouse storage to production as needed.
• Open and empty bagged ingredients into the micro-ingredient bins or bulk bins according to production requirements.
• Coordinate equipment use and ingredient availability with the production team.
• Complete receiving logs, inventory records, inspection forms, and other documentation required by CNY Feeds’ safety and FSMA programs.
• Operate receiving, conveying, warehouse, and material-handling equipment safely.
• Perform routine cleaning of receiving areas, warehouse spaces, equipment, pits, and surrounding work areas.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, food-safety requirements, and workplace-safety rules.
• Perform other related duties in and around the mill as needed.
• Complete additional duties assigned at the discretion of management.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform job duties, self-manage time and problem solve independently.
• Previous experience in agriculture preferred.
• Good physical condition: can regularly stand; walk; climb; use hands; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently climb, or balance; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Exposure to working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; vibration; and high levels of dust (appropriate PPE provided by employer).
• Exposure to work in high places and noise level in the work environment can be loud (appropriate PPE provided by employer).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
