Business Development Specialist

Position Summary

Comprehensive Prosthetics & Orthotics (CPO) is seeking a Business Development Specialist to grow referrals and strengthen relationships with healthcare providers in the Chicago market, with a primary focus on the western suburbs.

This is a remote position requiring regular travel for referral partner visits, prospecting, educational presentations, and community events. Using a consultative sales approach, you will develop new referral sources, expand existing partnerships, and support growth at CPO clinics throughout your territory.

You will work closely with clinical teams and the analytics team to develop and execute strategies that connect more patients with CPO’s orthotic and prosthetic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with clinical teams and the analytics team to develop and execute territory strategies that support referral and revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with each clinic in the territory to establish sales and business development plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with physician practices, hospitals, nursing homes, physical therapy providers, and community organizations.
  • Identify and pursue new referral sources through research, cold calling, drop-in visits, and networking.
  • Strengthen existing referral relationships through consistent communication, service support, and timely follow-up.
  • Partner with CPO’s clinical teams to deliver educational in-services, presentations, and product demonstrations for healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of CPO’s orthotic and prosthetic devices, services, and programs to communicate their value to referral partners.
  • Coordinate community events and outreach activities that increase awareness of CPO’s services.
  • Use approved marketing materials, digital tools, and social media to support outreach and communicate new services and programs.
  • Meet referral development, retention, and growth objectives while supporting collaboration and quality patient care.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two to three years of healthcare sales and marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience researching prospective customers, developing leads, and building professional relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations.
  • Confidence initiating conversations and meeting new people daily.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to identify customer needs, address concerns, and develop practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and receptive to coaching, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to organize educational events and build relationships within the community.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory for customer visits, outreach, and events.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $90,000–$95,000 annually, with eligibility for a quarterly bonus opportunity.
