The mission of the Lead, Retail Excellence at Cozey

As Lead, Retail Excellence reporting to the Director, Retail Strategy & Operations, you are the guardian of the Cozey in-store experience. Your first job is to make sure our values are lived and upheld in every store, so customers get the same elevated experience wherever they shop. From there, you drive the sales and cost performance of our stores, using data, the Cozey values, and close collaboration on experience and VM to do it. Day to day, you own labor cost, in-store customer experience, VM execution to standard, and the link between store managers and HQ for supplies and data. It’s an operational, high-ownership role where protecting the experience and optimizing performance sit in the same hands.

What you’ll be doing

  • Be the guardian of the Cozey in-store experience: elevate what a store feels like, energize the floor, and own the experience standards that keep our values lived and upheld in every store.
  • Drive the sales and cost performance of our stores, using data, the Cozey values, and close collaboration on experience and VM to turn each location into a better-performing store.
  • Own labor cost and scheduling across stores, aligning staffing to traffic and sales so we protect both cost efficiency and the service experience.
  • Make sure visual merchandising is executed and kept to Cozey’s standards in every store, partnering closely with the VM function (this role upholds VM on the floor rather than deciding product selection or placement).
  • Be the link between store managers and HQ for supplies and data, so stores always have what they need to run and sell.
  • Own the in-store side of product launches and work closely with the Operations team so products and marketing materials reach every store on time for launch dates, and products stay available and well-delivered day to day, keeping the floor always ready to sell.
  • Own the operational side of new store openings, making sure each store opens ready to sell with the essentials in place: dashboards, WiFi, access to all portals and tools, cleaning service, etc.

What success looks like

In your first 12 months, success looks like an in-store experience that lives up to Cozey’s values in every store, measurable sales lift per store, and openings that go smoother every time. Core signals include:

  • A consistent, elevated in-store experience and strong upholding of Cozey values across every location.
  • Sales per square foot and in-store conversion rate by location.
  • Labor cost efficiency and schedule coverage against traffic and sales.
  • Store-ready data that managers actually act on, with clear insights and follow-through.
  • New store openings set up right and ready on day one.

  • A versatile, high-range operator who moves fluidly across in-store experience, operations, and performance, and dives deep wherever the work demands it.
  • Proven multi-store retail experience, ideally in furniture, home, lifestyle, or premium DTC, with a real feel for what makes a store experience excellent.
  • A people-and-floor instinct: you know how to keep store teams motivated, aligned to values, and delivering a consistent experience without managing them directly.
  • Sharp operational judgment, comfortable owning labor cost, store-opening logistics, and the day-to-day supply and service needs that keep stores running.
  • Comfort working with retail data, partnering cross-functionally and leveraging AI to turn it into clear, store-ready actions and insights.
  • A track record of moving the sales needle through execution and experience, not just planning.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for getting into stores often, including quarterly travel across markets.
  • A true ownership mindset, running the day to day and standing behind the results.
