About the role

  • We are seeking a Systems Engineer to design, develop, and implement data engineering solutions supporting mission-critical data environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Apache NiFi, Linux, data schemas/ontologies, structured data formats (XML, CSV, JSON), databases (MySQL/NoSQL), and analytic query platforms. You will support the mapping, modeling, transformation, and ingestion of IC-provided data sets into enterprise repositories while documenting data flows and routing solutions. Experience with smart data systems, entitlements, Java, and Splunk is highly desired.

What you'll do

  • Demonstrated experience supporting Systems Engineering efforts throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Experience designing and implementing comprehensive Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) solutions.
  • Ability to perform and/or approve end-to-end system trade analyses to optimize system performance, cost, and operational effectiveness.
  • Experience managing configuration control of evolving hardware, software components, and associated system documentation.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate system design alternatives considering lifecycle cost, reuse, complexity, risk, scalability, and future growth.
  • Knowledge of current agency, national, and international standards applicable to systems development.
  • Ability to analyze selection criteria and recommend optimal technical solutions.
  • Experience providing technical direction across the full systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Ability to define and document software interfaces, including origin, destination, triggers, and data characteristics.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Fourteen (14) years of Systems Engineering experience supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
    • Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of smart data systems and data entitlements.
  • Experience with Java and Splunk.
  • Experience supporting agency dataflow and reporting solutions.
  • Experience developing system performance, availability, scalability, manageability, and security requirementsfor mid-to-large scale systems.
  • Experience leading Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience integrating COTS and GOTS solutions across multiple vendors.
  • Experience developing and deploying storage solutions in clustered and/or cloud environments.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure, compliant solutions aligned with legal, policy, and regulatory requirements.
