Business Development Representative (SMB)
The role
You'll build Disseqt's direct pipeline in the SMB market. Most of our revenue today comes through enterprise accounts and GSI partners; this role opens a new motion selling straight to smaller organisations.
AI governance isn't just a big-bank problem any more. Fintechs, brokers, insurtechs, SaaS firms and professional services businesses are putting AI into production, and the EU AI Act and UK regulators expect them to govern it. Most don't have an AI risk team. That's who you'll be talking to.
You'll own the top of the funnel: finding the right companies, starting conversations with founders, CTOs, heads of compliance and operations leaders, and qualifying who's ready to move. SMB cycles are shorter, so you'll run discovery and first demos yourself and see deals through to the Sales Lead quickly.
What you'll do
- Research and build target lists of SMBs where AI is already in production or on the way, focusing on regulated and AI-heavy sectors.
- Run multi-channel outbound across email, phone, LinkedIn and video, with sequences personalised to each sector's governance pressures.
- Follow up quickly on inbound leads from the website, content and events.
- Run discovery calls to understand how a prospect uses AI, where their risk sits and what regulation applies to them.
- Deliver first-stage platform demos and explain the value of AI assurance in plain, business terms.
- Qualify opportunities against a clear framework and hand them to the Sales Lead with full context.
- Keep the CRM accurate: activity, pipeline stage, notes and next steps.
- Represent Disseqt at London and European industry events, meetups and webinars to generate new leads.
- Feed what you hear back to marketing and product, so our SMB messaging and packaging get sharper every month.
What we're looking for
- 2-4 years in a BDR, SDR or similar new-business role, ideally selling B2B software to SMB or mid-market buyers.
- A track record of hitting or beating activity and pipeline targets, with numbers to show it.
- Comfort with cold outreach, objection handling and a high volume of conversations each week.
- Clear, confident writing and speaking, whether you're talking to a founder or a compliance lead.
- Real curiosity about AI and how businesses use it. You don't need to be technical, but you'll want to learn fast.
- Organised and self-directed: you manage your own pipeline, time and follow-ups without being chased.
- Hands-on experience with a CRM such as HubSpot or Salesforce, plus sales engagement tools.
- The right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
- Experience selling into fintech, insurance, legal or other regulated SMB sectors.
- Familiarity with AI governance, GRC, cybersecurity or data protection products.
- A working knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR or FCA expectations around AI.
- Experience in a product-led or self-serve sales motion.
- Fluency in another European language, such as German, French, Spanish or Dutch.
How you'll be measured
You'll have a personal target for qualified meetings and pipeline generated, reviewed monthly with the Sales Lead. We also track the quality of what you hand over: how many qualified opportunities progress to proposal and close.
This role is built to grow. As the SMB motion matures, strong performers can move into closing their own SMB deals as an Account Executive, or into mid-market and enterprise sales.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and commission.
- Matched pension contributions.
- Private health insurance.
- 25 days' annual leave, plus UK bank holidays.
- Hybrid working from our London base.
- A clear progression path and direct exposure to the leadership team.
- The chance to shape a new sales motion from the ground up in one of the fastest-moving areas of enterprise technology.
Disseqt is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from everyone and will make reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process.
About Disseqt AI
Disseqt is the Assurance Layer for Enterprise AI Operations. One platform covers the full deployment lifecycle: pre-production testing, runtime policy enforcement, continuous post-deployment monitoring and compliance reporting.
AI agents are non-deterministic. They hallucinate. They produce unexpected outputs. They behave differently in production than in any test environment. They drift. They degrade. Enterprises deploying AI agents at scale have limited visibility into what those systems are doing after go-live. Legacy GRC tools were built for predictable software and cannot monitor what changes continuously.
Disseqt closes that gap. With regulations like the EU AI Act and ISO 42001 now mandating full lifecycle AI governance, enterprises using Disseqt are winning regulated deals, faster and with less risk.
