Position Title: Construction Coordinator (Electrical Intern) - Fall of 2026

Position Location: Buffalo, New York area (Candidates do not need to currently reside in the Buffalo, New York area)


Position Schedule: The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with lunch provided on-site. All approved business travel, lodging, and project-related living expenses will be covered for the duration of the assignment. To help maintain work-life balance, interns will have the opportunity to travel home every other weekend, subject to project schedules and manager approval.


Job Summary

The Construction Coordinator Intern (Electrical) will support the contractor and/or owner's representative throughout all phases of a mission-critical construction project. Working alongside experienced construction professionals, you'll gain hands-on exposure to project planning, field coordination, quality assurance, scheduling, safety, and project delivery while helping ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Throughout the internship, you'll assist with tracking project progress, maintaining project documentation, and coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients. From pre-construction planning through project turnover and closeout, you'll develop practical experience supporting reporting, risk management, issue resolution, and day-to-day construction operations.


This is a structured learning opportunity designed for individuals beginning their careers in construction management. You'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals, receive mentorship, and build the technical and professional skills needed to succeed in the construction industry while learning DLB Associates' processes, standards, and best practices.


The Construction Coordinator Intern (Electrical) is expected to communicate professionally and collaborate effectively with project teams while supporting DLB Associates' commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and exceptional client service.


Essential Functions

  • Assist project teams with contract administration and coordination meetings.
  • Support document tracking, including submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
  • Help monitor project schedules and budgets using company tools and templates.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations summarizing project progress and key metrics.
  • Support field teams in verifying installations meet design and quality expectations.
  • Help document construction activities through photos, logs, and progress summaries.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing closeout documentation.
  • Learn about risk management, safety, and quality assurance practices on active job sites.
  • Prepare visual materials and reports for internal and client-facing updates.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on project improvements.
  • Maintain professional communication and collaboration with team members and contractors.
  • Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent, high-quality work output.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, seeking out new technologies, skills, and methods that elevate individual and team performance.
  • Adapt to emerging technologies and evolving digital workflows, actively supporting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization.

Position Requirements (BEGINNER level for all the following)

  • Knowledge of fundamental construction and project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, coordination practices, and the materials, methods, and tools used in commercial or mission-critical facilities.
  • Ability to learn commissioning processes for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to learn construction management software such as Procore.
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management.
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with onsite and remote team members.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and develop plans to address identified issues.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:


  • Frequently manipulating small parts/tools
  • Frequently required to remain in a stationary position
  • Frequently moving through data center and outdoor environments (heat, cold, precipitation), including navigating tight spaces, accessing areas via stairs or ladders, and occasionally working in overhead or under-equipment positions.
  • On occasion the employee may move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.


Travel Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Assigned to a Data Center project near Buffalo, New York and required to be on-site there Monday through Friday, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Interns will be permitted to travel home every other weekend, subject to project schedules and management approval.
  • Travel up to 25% to other priority project locations 
  • You will be issued a corporate American Express card to cover project-related travel expenses, including airfare, lodging, meals, and other approved costs. 
  • Effective May 7, 2025, and in accordance with U.S. federal regulations for domestic air travel, a valid REAL ID (or an acceptable alternative, such as a passport) is required for travel associated with this position.
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meetings for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
  • Travel may involve transportation by car or plane depending on the destination and nature of the business needs.


CERTIFICATIONS & SAFETY

Ability to achieve NFPA 70E and/or OSHA training as required; strict adherence to HSE/LOTO policies.


Education / Experience

In pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline.

OR

One year of hands‑on install/testing/validation/troubleshooting of mechanical, controls, and/or electrical infrastructure.
