Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Auto Mechanic to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the diagnostic, repair, and preventative maintenance of our diverse fleet of small engine equipment (lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.), skid loaders and other landscape equipment, and heavy-duty vehicles used for snow plowing and salting, as well as broader upkeep of the company's fleet assets. This is a crucial, hands-on role that requires a self-starter who can maintain detailed records and minimize equipment downtime during peak seasons.


Key Responsibilities


Small Engine Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance, diagnosis, and repair on 2-stroke and 4-stroke small engines (e.g., walk-behind mowers, stand on mowers, zero-turn riders, chainsaws, trimmers, skid loaders and attachments, and leaf blowers).

Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical failures on landscaping equipment.

Conduct seasonal preparation and storage for all small equipment and trailers.

Vehicle and Heavy Equipment Maintenance (Snow Operations)

Diagnose and repair gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems on light and medium-duty trucks (e.g., F-250s, F-550s, commercial plow trucks).

Expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hydraulic systems for snowplows, sanders, and salters.

Perform welding and fabrication for minor repairs on vehicle bodies, plow frames, and attachments.

Ensure all vehicles meet safety and operational standards for severe winter conditions.

Familiarity with diesel motors is a plus for both our light duty truck fleet, as well as, our roll off equipment.

Fleet Maintenance & General Shop Duties

Support the upkeep of all fleet assets across ESS Dumpster and Edina Seasonal Services, helping ensure equipment is reliable and ready for use.

Help maintain adequate pars of maintenance parts and equipment so repairs can be completed in a timely manner.

Perform and track preventative maintenance on all equipment to support overall fleet stability.

Help determine repair priority, coordinating with in-house or subcontractor maintenance shops as needed.

Maintain accurate records of all repair work, preventative maintenance, and parts inventory, including use of the MaintainX fleet software to support shop efficiency and cost tracking.

Maintain and organize the shop area, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

Order necessary parts and supplies efficiently.

Be available for emergency repairs or flexible hours during peak operational periods (especially winter).


Qualifications


Required Experience and Skills

Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a mechanic, with demonstrated experience in both small engine repair and vehicle/heavy truck maintenance.

Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems for lawn and snow equipment.

Strong knowledge of gas and diesel engines.

Ability to read and interpret repair manuals.

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Welding/fabrication skills are a plus, but not required.

Experience with fleet maintenance software (e.g., MaintainX) is a plus.

Must provide your own tools to accomplish the range of work expected; specialized diagnostic equipment will be provided.

Have the ability to work independently without direct supervision on tasks related to the equipment listed in the key responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $28-$36 /Hr based on qualifications met and experience

Full Time, Benefit earning position. Typical schedule Monday-Friday, with flexibility required during peak season.
