Fluid2Chip

Director, Field Operations & Service Delivery

About Fluid2Chip

Fluid2Chip is a specialized technical services practice built on decades of data center expertise. We bridge the gap between traditional construction teams and the shift to high-density liquid cooling — delivering expert commissioning, flush-and-fill, fluid chemistry, QA/QC, and system optimization services that ensure mission-critical liquid cooling infrastructure performs from day one.

Salary

Fluid2Chip recognizes salary ranges from job boards do not necessarily reflect our pay ranges. In many instances we out-compete those ranges for well-qualified candidates.

Job Summary

Fluid2Chip is scaling quickly — and we need a leader who can help bring structure, visibility, and consistency to how we operate. This role is about running the operational engine of a growing field services business.

You will take ownership of key areas of the business while providing oversight, alignment, and accountability across multiple functions already supported by existing team members. Your focus is ensuring that staffing, execution, planning, and performance all work together in a cohesive, scalable way.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role — ideal for someone who has helped build and scale a technical services organization and can move fluidly between people leadership, operational execution, and business planning.

Essential Functions

Operational Leadership & Execution

  • Provide visibility across active engagements — scope, schedule, risks, and priorities
  • Ensure projects are progressing as planned and support teams in resolving issues quickly
  • Reinforce consistency in delivery standards and execution across engagements
  • Act as a central coordination point across a distributed field organization

Process Development & Operational Infrastructure

  • Build and implement repeatable processes, operating rhythms, and delivery standards
  • Establish playbooks, communication cadences, and escalation paths
  • Introduce structure into a fast-growing environment that has historically been less defined
  • Continuously improve how work flows across teams and functions

Business Operations & Planning

  • Contribute to and help drive:
    • Workforce planning and staffing strategy
    • Resource allocation and utilization
    • Backlog visibility and capacity alignment
    • Revenue forecasting and business planning
  • Support the development and refinement of operational and financial models tied to growth
  • Ensure the business has clear visibility into performance and forward-looking demand

Proposal & Pre-Work Leadership

  • Own and/or support the operational components of proposals, including:
    • Staffing approach
    • Execution planning
    • Delivery readiness
  • Ensure work is properly scoped and aligned with actual delivery capability
  • Bring consistency and discipline to how commitments are made

Cross-Functional Oversight & Alignment

  • Provide oversight across delivery-related functions (e.g., staffing coordination, recruiting inputs, scheduling, execution support, etc.)
  • Support existing owners by improving alignment, visibility, and execution consistency
  • Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and risks across the organization and drive solutions
  • Ensure decisions across functions align to overall business priorities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and support a distributed team of field professionals and team leads
  • Reinforce accountability, professionalism, and execution discipline
  • Conduct regular check-ins to understand performance, surface issues, and remove roadblocks
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of team members

What Success Looks Like

  • The organization operates with a clear and consistent cadence
  • Strong alignment across teams responsible for delivery
  • Improved visibility into staffing, backlog, and performance
  • Proactive (not reactive) planning and hiring decisions
  • Consistent, high-quality execution across engagements
  • Leadership has confidence in both what is being sold and what can be delivered

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Operations, Business, or related field — OR equivalent hands-on commissioning/field testing background in mission-critical or industrial environments
  • PMP or equivalent operational credibility
  • Experience in a field-based technical services environment, such as:
    • Commissioning
    • QA/QC or field verification
    • Technical or engineering services
    • Specialty contracting or service delivery organizations
  • Experience helping build or scale teams, processes, and delivery functions
  • Strong operational instincts — ability to bring structure to a growing, evolving business
  • Experience working across staffing, utilization, planning, and delivery execution
  • Ability to operate across functions without direct ownership of each while driving alignment and accountability
  • Experience leading distributed, field-based teams
  • Strong business and operational acumen, including familiarity with capacity planning, backlog management, and revenue forecasting
  • Experience contributing to or leading proposal planning and delivery readiness
  • Background in high-growth or build-as-you-go environments, where processes and systems are developed over time

You May Not Be a Fit If

  • Your experience is primarily in data center operations or facilities management
  • You’ve managed infrastructure or buildings more than teams, delivery, and business operations
  • You prefer highly structured environments with pre-built systems already in place
