About Foxleigh Mine: 

Foxleigh Mine is located 15km south of Middlemount and approx. 275km northwest of Rockhampton. The mine is in its 25th year of operation producing premium PCI metallurgical coal for use in steel manufacturing. About the Role

Reporting to the Mining Manager, the Operational Technology Specialist plays a key role in driving the performance, reliability, and innovation of site-based technology systems.

This is a Monday–Friday site-based role, offering consistency and work-life balance while still being embedded in a dynamic mining environment.

You will work closely with Mining, Maintenance, Technical Services, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration, system uptime, and continuous improvement across critical operational systems.

Key Responsibilities

OT Systems Support & Ownership

• Support, install, and maintain site-based systems (FMS, HPGPS, IVMS, CAS, payload systems)
• Act as the technical owner for OT systems onsite
• Troubleshoot system issues, outages, and performance concerns
• Coordinate vendors and ensure systems meet OEM and site standards

Communications & Infrastructure

• Maintain communications infrastructure (LTE, Wi-Fi, radios, Starlink, point-to-point links)
• Ensure secure, stable, and high-performing networks across site

Projects & Technology Delivery

• Support delivery of OT projects from concept through to implementation
• Assist with commissioning, upgrades, and system rollouts
• Lead trials, pilots, and new technology adoption

Cyber Security & Integration

• Identify and manage cyber security risks across OT environments
• Work with IT teams to ensure systems are secure and compliant
• Support integration between OT, IT, and business systems

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, and system performance
• Drive innovation and optimisation of operational technology
• Develop SOPs, training materials, and documentation

About You

You are a technically capable and solutions-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced mining environment.

You will bring:

• Trade qualification in Electrical, Auto Electrical, or Communications (with Open Cabling Licence)
• Experience with Fleet Management Systems, GPS, or mining technology systems
• Strong knowledge of OT networks (Wi-Fi, LTE, radios, etc.)
• Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams
• Solid troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
• A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Highly regarded:

• Experience with systems such as Wenco, Titan, HPGPS, Rajant, Starlink
• Exposure to autonomy, telemetry, or equipment health systems
• Mining or heavy industry experience
