Senior Manager, Communications and Public Relations
Gevo is a next generation, “low-carbon” fuel company focused on the development and commercialization of renewable alternatives to petroleum-based products. Low-carbon fuels reduce the carbon intensity, or the level of greenhouse gas emissions, compared to standard fossil-based fuels across their lifecycle. The most common low-carbon fuels are renewable fuels. Gevo is focused on the development and production of mainstream fuels like gasoline and jet fuel using renewable feedstocks that have the potential to lower greenhouse gas emissions at a meaningful scale and enhance agricultural production, including food and other related products.

Who You Are
- A communications and PR professional with 8–10+ years of experience across corporate communications, media relations, internal communications, and marketing.
- Experience driving communications, marketing, and PR for a publicly traded company. You know how earnings cycles, disclosure requirements, and legal and IR review shape what gets said, when it gets said, and by whom.
- Background and industry knowledge in low-carbon fuels, renewables, agriculture, petrochemicals, or conventional energy & power is highly preferred. You can communicate with confidence about the industry and its policy landscape.
- A self-starter who works well in an agile, fast-moving environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats. You are just as comfortable rolling your sleeves owning day-to-day tasks, as you are getting involved in high-level strategy.
- A strong writer and editor who adapts easily across formats, from press releases, bylines, and op-eds to executive talking points, social posts, newsletters, and web copy.
- Experienced in media relations, with established reporter relationships or the ability to build them quickly, and a working knowledge of media monitoring and coverage analysis – ideally with relevant industry publications.
- Digitally fluent, with hands-on experience managing corporate websites and social channels. HubSpot and Canva experience are preferred. You use analytics to measure what works and adjust.
- You do not need to be a designer, but you know enough about design to give clear creative direction, judge quality, and manage outsourced agency and freelance design work to deliver on brand, on time, and on budget.
- Calm and sound under pressure. You’ve supported issues and crisis communications and know when to escalate, how to coordinate with legal and functional owners, and how to protect the company’s reputation.
- Highly organized. You can manage several priorities at once, including the communications calendar, content archive, event logistics, and post-event follow-up with sales and commercial teams.
- Data-minded and focused on results. You measure share of voice, engagement, and message penetration, and you turn the numbers into practical recommendations.
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information, and a collaborator who works well with executives, investor relations, legal, HR, and commercial teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
