About the role
- The Night Auditor in our front desk department plays a critical role in ensuring smooth hotel
- operations during the overnight shift. This hourly, full-time position is responsible for balancing
- the day’s financial transactions, providing attentive guest service after hours, and preparing the
- property for the next business day. Working largely independently, the Night Auditor serves as
- the primary point of contact for late-arriving guests, handles inquiries and issues that arise
- overnight, and ensures that all systems and reports are accurate, complete, and ready for
- morning management review
What You'll Do
- Perform nightly audit of daily front desk, reservations, and point-of-sale transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Reconcile guest folios, room charges, payments, and adjustments; investigate and correct discrepancies as needed
- Run and verify end-of-day reports, including revenue, occupancy, and night audit summaries, and distribute to appropriate stakeholders
- Check in and check out guests during overnight hours, following all standard procedures and verification steps
- Respond to guest requests, questions, and concerns promptly and professionally throughout the night
- Monitor property security and safety during overnight shift, including periodic property walks and reporting any suspicious activity or maintenance issues
- Prepare, print, and organize daily reports, registration materials, and key packets for upcoming arrivals
- Balance and secure cash drawers, process deposits, and follow cash-handling and credit card security procedures
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance via logs or systems to communicate room status, special requests, and maintenance needs identified overnight
- Ensure lobby and front desk areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming for earlymorning guests and staff
- Follow all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards related to guest service, confidentiality, and safety
- Support other overnight tasks as assigned to help maintain smooth hotel operations across the 103-room property
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of accounting or bookkeeping principles, including reconciliation
- and balancing
- Comfort working independently and making sound decisions during the overnight shift
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and basic computer skills(email, spreadsheets, report generation)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and reports
- Excellent communication and customer service skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to remain professional, calm, and solutions-focused when addressing guestissues or emergencies at night
- Reliable, consistent availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in a hotel front desk, night audit, or similar customer-facinghospitality role preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality or accounting training is a plus
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks such as lifting,carrying, or moving items up to approximately 25 pounds
