Position Summary

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to healthcare providers to ensure efficient daily operations and quality patient care. This role involves patient coordination, documentation, scheduling, basic clinical assistance, and maintaining accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.


Key Responsibilities

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
  • Manage patient intake and registration processes
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
  • Verify patient information and insurance details
  • Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally
  • Assist with referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments
  • Ensure patient files and documentation remain confidential and compliant

Clinical Support Duties

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information
  • Assist physicians/providers during examinations as needed
  • Prepare examination rooms and medical equipment
  • Administer basic clinical tasks within scope of practice
  • Support infection control and cleanliness standards

Operational Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized records and tracking systems
  • Follow clinic SOPs and healthcare compliance standards
  • Communicate effectively with providers, staff, and patients
  • Escalate urgent concerns or patient issues appropriately
  • Support overall clinic workflow and patient experience


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • Previous healthcare, clinic, or administrative experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems is an asset
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
