Root Insurance

Senior Product Manager, Pricing

Root was founded on the belief that car insurance is broken, and we set out to change it. We’re harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize this archaic, complicated industry. Using machine learning and mobile telematic platforms, we’ve built one of the most innovative insurtech companies in the world.

The Opportunity

Root is looking for a Senior Product Manager to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the platforms that power our pricing advantage. This is a highly cross-functional PM role focused on enabling faster, higher-quality pricing decisions and model deployment across the company.

You’ll own critical pricing capabilities, including our internal tool Rating Plan Manager (RPM), and lead the evolution of the infrastructure, tooling, and decisioning systems at the center of Root’s pricing ecosystem.

Pricing is one of Root’s core strategic advantages, and this role will shape the systems that determine how quickly we turn data and models into market-leading pricing decisions.

Salary Range:  $125,500 - $156,100 (Eligible for competitive bonus and equity offering.)

Root is a “work where it works best” company. Meaning we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Own the Pricing roadmap and iterate on the vision for 2027 and beyond
  • Lead a team of engineers through the full product lifecycle, from ideation to implementation and iteration
  • Write clear product requirement documentation (PRDs) that align business strategy with engineering plans
  • Cultivate a prioritized product backlog using robust product frameworks and data-driven decision making
  • Own and evolve Root’s internal pricing platform, Rating Plan Manager
  • Accelerate the path from new data and model features to production deployment
  • Improve pricing workflow speed, reliability, observability, and usability
  • Build self-service tooling that enables faster experimentation and feature creation
  • Reduce operational and regulatory bottlenecks across pricing and filing workflows
  • Support Root’s nationwide expansion by adapting pricing capabilities to meet the specific regulatory and operational needs of new states
  • Partner deeply with engineering, actuarial, data science, analytics, legal, and state management teams to drive execution across complex systems

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • 4+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech, insurtech, or another data-intensive regulated environment
  • Strong systems thinking and comfort with technical concepts like predictive modeling, APIs, and workflow orchestration
  • Data-driven mindset; experience working with data scientists and analytics partners
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple user experiences
  • Experience in agile development methodologies
  • Customer-centric mindset with demonstrated success in improving user experiences
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Adaptable approach to scope and responsibilities in a growing organization
  • Collaborative work style with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic and "do-what-it-takes" attitude to drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (quarterly in-person team events)
