Modern Recovery Services is a virtual intensive outpatient program for individuals working through mental health and substance use challenges. The Primary Therapists’ role is to support others in recovery from a substance use disorder and/or co-occurring disorders. The Primary Therapist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to recovering individuals to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery. The Primary Therapist works in collaboration with the Clinical Director and Group Facilitator to meet the clients’ needs in accordance with their treatment plan, by providing Individual sessions to clients in need of these services.

Job Duties:

• Provide recovery education to clients for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance. 

• Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery. 

• Assist/coach recovering persons develop their own plan for advancing their recovery.

• Facilitate the transition from professional services to community-based services. 

• Promote self-advocacy by assisting recovering persons to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals and objectives established as the focal point of rehabilitation and clinical services. 

• Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self- help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests.  

•  Provide hope and encouragement for opportunities at varying levels of involvement in community-based activities (e.g., work, school, relationships, physical activity, self-directed hobbies, etc.).

• Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with others in the agency.

• Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers. 

• Ability to provide services via video conferencing/teletherapy when determined appropriate for clients and the organization. Teletherapy may include evaluation, assessment, consultation, treatment planning, case management, coaching, individual therapy, couple/family therapy, and group therapy. Telehealth will occur primarily through interactive audio, video, telephone and/or other audio/video communications.

Recommended Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Addictions, or related field of study from an accredited college or university

• Licensed in the state of Arizona as LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LASAC, or LISAC

• Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement) 

• Must be able to provide Level 1 fingerprint clearance card

Minimum Qualifications:

• Individuals must understand and respect everyone's unique path to recovery. 

• A person must have a working knowledge of the drug and alcohol treatment system and a demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.

• A person must be comfortable working with both adolescent and adult populations.

Job Type: Full-time
