Weekend & Holiday Minecraft Server Moderator

Four Openings | Part-Time | Fully Remote within Canada
Pay: $20 CAD/hour
Regular hours: Approximately 8–12 per week, with additional hours during holidays and programming breaks

Some people see a Minecraft server. You see a community.

Someone needs help protecting their build. A player reports that items have gone missing. Chat is getting a little too heated. Someone is new and cannot figure out where to go.

We’re hiring four Weekend & Holiday Minecraft Server Moderators to help keep Mud Club’s Minecraft worlds welcoming, fair, and running smoothly.

Mud Club supports neurodivergent kids and teens through gaming, shared interests, online community, and game-based occupational therapy.

This is a community moderation role, not a therapy role. We’re looking for people who know Minecraft, communicate well with young people, and can make sensible decisions when something needs attention.

The role

Known to members as a Game Guide, you’ll be an active, attentive staff presence during your scheduled shift. You’ll answer questions, help with everyday Minecraft issues, respond to disruptive behaviour, and investigate straightforward problems such as griefing or stealing.

You won’t be expected to solve every situation yourself. We’ll provide training, moderation guidelines, server tools, and escalation procedures so you know what you can handle, what needs follow-up, and what requires immediate support.

Clinical decisions, parent coaching, formal mediation, and longer-term member-support decisions remain with Mud Club’s clinical and Clubhouse teams. Your responsibility is to address the immediate server situation within your role and make sure the right information reaches the right people.

What you’ll do

• Monitor the community. Stay attentive to server activity, player interactions, chat, and member reports throughout your shift.
• Help members play. Answer Minecraft questions and assist with navigation, claims, common commands, and basic server issues.
• Keep play fair. Respond to griefing, stealing, inappropriate builds, spam, and other disruptive behaviour. Use approved tools to investigate incidents and apply established reminders, resets, or temporary restrictions.
• Document and escalate. Write brief, factual incident notes, follow established procedures for serious concerns, and complete clear handoffs for the next moderator and weekday team.
• Encourage a welcoming community. Help new players find their feet and recognize collaboration, kindness, and positive community moments—not just problems.

Minecraft experience matters

You don’t need to be a developer or server administrator. Still, you should understand multiplayer Minecraft well enough to follow what players are talking about and recognize what is happening around you.

You should be comfortable with Java and/or Bedrock Minecraft, survival and creative gameplay, inventories, builds, claims, teleporting, common commands, and multiplayer chat.

If somebody tells you their base was griefed, their shulker disappeared, or another player is causing trouble inside their claim, you should have a pretty good idea what they mean.

Experience with GriefPrevention, CoreProtect or similar logging tools, moderation plugins, or server administration is an asset. We’ll provide training on the tools and permissions used at Mud Club.

What you’ll bring

You genuinely enjoy Minecraft and helping online communities work well. You can communicate calmly with kids and teens, set clear boundaries without turning every problem into a confrontation, and recognize when a situation needs intervention.

You’re dependable, comfortable working independently, and willing to follow established procedures. You can write clear, objective notes, protect member privacy, and ask for help when something falls outside your role.

Experience in gaming communities, online moderation, youth programs, camps, recreation, or supporting neurodivergent young people would be valuable.

Clinical or occupational therapy assistant experience is not required. Practical Minecraft knowledge, sound judgment, and reliable communication matter most.

Schedule and availability

Regular hours are approximately 8–12 per week, averaging nine hours per week across a four-week schedule.

Shifts are normally four hours long, scheduled Friday–Sunday between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM Eastern Time. Typical shift blocks are:

• 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
• 1:00–5:00 PM
• 5:00–9:00 PM

Availability across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is required, although you will not necessarily work all three days every week. Schedules will be confirmed in advance. Flexibility to cover another moderator’s shift is an asset.

Additional weekday availability during public holidays and scheduled Mud Club programming breaks is required, including the December holiday break. Christmas Day is excluded from coverage.

Weekly hours may increase substantially during these periods. The moderation team will share holiday and programming-break coverage, with schedules confirmed in advance.

Training and support

We’ll provide paid onboarding and training covering Mud Club’s community expectations, FAIR Code, moderation tools, member communication, documentation, privacy, and escalation procedures.

Training includes hands-on server practice, scenario-based learning, shadowing, and supervised moderation before you work independently. You’ll receive clear guidance on your responsibilities, decision-making authority, and when to seek additional support.

Employment requirements

Applicants must be based in Canada and eligible to work in Canada. Successful applicants must complete Mud Club’s screening requirements for this youth-facing role, including appropriate criminal record and vulnerable sector screening.

You must have access to a private workspace, a stable high-speed internet connection, and a reliable computer that can run Minecraft and Microsoft Teams smoothly at the same time. Your setup must support active server monitoring and clear team communication throughout your shift.
