Rabot Energy

Working Student (m/f/d) Cloud Engineering

About us

Rabot Energy is an independent provider of dynamic electricity tariffs for households and businesses. With smart procurement strategies and automated control, we shift flexible consumption into hours with low exchange prices. That way, households and businesses optimise their electricity costs. Our vision is to give all customers the ability to steer their electricity consumption smartly and benefit from low-price exchange hours.

Why Now?

The energy market is going through its biggest shift in 50 years. We no longer just supply electricity, we make it intelligent. RABOT is growing triple digits, and the platform that every product runs on has to grow with it.

Now is the perfect time to join: you will not learn inside a finished corporation, but on real production infrastructure, alongside our platform engineers. As a working student in Platform Engineering, you work with Azure, Kubernetes and CI/CD, automate what is manual and flaky, and move more than in any textbook exercise. No sandbox, real work.

Your Mission

You join our Platform Engineering team, which runs the foundation every RABOT product is built on: cloud infrastructure (Azure, Kubernetes), CI/CD, deployments and monitoring. You take day-to-day load off the team through automation, documentation and smaller platform tasks, and you help us build a platform that scales as we grow.

You work on real production infrastructure, not a sandbox. You fix what is manual, flaky or undocumented, ship your changes to production, and learn directly from experienced platform engineers. You ask early, join reviews and build things others can run.

Your Results

We think in outcomes, not task lists. If you are successful, here is what that looks like:

Month 3 (ramp-up)

  • You understand our platform, tooling and ways of working.
  • You ship your first changes to production independently.

Month 6 (performance)

  • You regularly deliver changes that make the platform more reliable, more automated or easier to use.
  • The team trusts your work and your ownership.

Month 12 (scale)

  • You have grown into a trusted part of the team: you take ownership of a platform area, bring in your own ideas and help shape how we build and run the platform.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Curious mind: You tinker with Linux, containers and the cloud, and you bring the basics of Linux and shell, Git, containers and networking, plus some hands-on cloud experience.
  • Self-starter: You fix what is manual, flaky or undocumented, and you are comfortable with scripting and the basics of CI/CD.
  • Team thinker and communicator: You build things others can run, document them, ask early and join reviews. You are happy to ask for help and guidance.
  • Student: You are enrolled, can work 16 to 20 hours per week during the semester (and more during breaks), are based in or near Hamburg, and have a real interest in platform engineering as a career path.
  • Language: Confident English.

Nice to have: Kubernetes, Terraform or another Infrastructure as Code tool, Azure (or another cloud), monitoring tools, and AI tools in your daily work.

What We Offer

  • Ownership: You work on real production infrastructure from day one, not a sandbox.
  • Learning: You work with a modern stack (Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD) and learn directly from experienced platform engineers.
  • Flexibility: 16 to 20 hours per week that fit around your studies, with more during semester breaks.
  • Culture: Transparent collaboration. We celebrate mistakes as long as we learn from them.

Your Extras

  • Employee discount on RABOT Energy electricity tariff
