About the Role

ResourceWise is seeking a pulp and paper industry professional with strong research, analytical, and market intelligence capabilities to support our activities across Latin America.


The successful candidate will research pulp, paper, and paper-converting markets; collect and analyze mill-level and company-level information; engage with industry participants; and develop a clear understanding of regional market developments.


This position will contribute data and insights to ResourceWise subscription products, consulting projects, client requests, and bespoke studies. The successful candidate will be curious, resourceful, well organized, and committed to accuracy, consistency, and continuous learning.


What You'll Do

  • Lead research and data-development activities for the pulp, paper, and paper-converting industries across assigned Latin American markets.
  • Research and track pulp and paper mills, converting facilities, manufacturers, expansion projects, closures, ownership changes, and other industry developments.
  • Monitor industry news, regulatory developments, company announcements, financial reports, and market activity to identify relevant changes.
  • Collect, validate, enter, and maintain detailed mill-level and project-level information in ResourceWise databases.
  • Ensure that technical, operational, production, capacity, ownership, and project information is complete, accurate, consistent, and supported by reliable sources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, suppliers, industry associations, government organizations, and other market participants to strengthen regional market intelligence.
  • Analyze complex industry and asset data and transform findings into structured reports, presentations, database updates, and clear data visualizations.
  • Support consulting assignments and customized market studies by gathering information, conducting analysis, and contributing to client-ready deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal research, consulting, product, and sales teams to respond to client questions and identify market opportunities.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise during discussions with existing and prospective clients.
  • Work with global research teams to harmonize research methods, terminology, data standards, and quality-control processes.
  • Maintain a high standard of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.


Qualifications

  • Degree in forestry, pulp and paper technology, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, economics, business, resource management, or a related field.
  • Five to ten years of experience in the pulp, paper, paper-converting, forestry, wood-products, or related industrial sector.
  • Practical understanding of pulp and paper manufacturing, mill operations, production processes, grades, raw materials, capacities, and regional market dynamics.
  • Experience in research, market intelligence, consulting, data collection, business analysis, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and identify inconsistencies or data gaps.
  • Strong project-management, time-management, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage confidently with industry participants and clients.
  • Fluency in Spanish and strong professional English communication skills are required.
  • Portuguese-language capability and knowledge of the Brazilian pulp and paper industry are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently in a home-based environment, with reliable internet access and communications equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
