Rhythm Energy

Director, Product Marketing & Go-to-Market

About Rhythm Energy

Rhythm is redefining the retail energy experience through innovation, technology, and customer obsession. We’re building a smarter, cleaner, and more customer-centric energy company focused on delivering exceptional experiences while helping customers better manage their energy usage and costs.

We move quickly, operate with high standards, and value people who are analytical, collaborative, and energized by solving complex problems.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Director, Product Marketing & Go-to-Market to establish and lead Product Marketing across Rhythm’s growing portfolio of energy products and experiences.

You’ll support our Residential, Commercial & Industrial (C&I), and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) businesses, with VPP as the clear near-term priority and primary mandate. For VPP, you’ll serve as a proactive strategic partner focused on how we grow the business—shaping the customer proposition, developing the growth strategy, identifying the highest-potential opportunities, and mobilizing Marketing and cross-functional teams to execute.

Across Rhythm, you’ll serve as the voice of the customer, translating customer insights, market intelligence, and analytics into product marketing, go-to-market, and commercial recommendations that drive adoption, retention, and long-term business growth.

This is a true builder role. You’ll partner closely with business leaders, Product, Growth, Sales, Finance, Customer Experience, Analytics, Engineering, and Executive Leadership while establishing the processes, playbooks, and capabilities that will allow Product Marketing to scale with Rhythm. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to build and develop a Product Marketing team as our portfolio grows.

What You’ll Do

Product Marketing & Commercial Strategy

  • Lead Product Marketing across Rhythm’s portfolio, with primary near-term ownership of the VPP product marketing and go-to-market agenda.
  • Own positioning, messaging, segmentation, value propositions, competitive differentiation, and product marketing strategy across VPP, Residential, and C&I priorities.
  • Partner with Product, Finance, and business leaders to evaluate pricing alternatives, customer propositions, and commercial tradeoffs, bringing the voice of the customer into decisions while balancing adoption with business economics.
  • Translate complex product capabilities and customer insights into compelling customer experiences, launch materials, sales enablement, website content, and lifecycle communications.

Customer Insights, Growth & Go-to-Market

  • Lead customer research and insights to inform product strategy, positioning, messaging, pricing recommendations, customer prioritization, and go-to-market planning.
  • For VPP, develop and own the growth strategy and roadmap—identifying the highest-potential customer segments, offers, channels, and experiments, then orchestrating Marketing and cross-functional teams to execute against the plan.
  • Develop end-to-end go-to-market strategies for priority initiatives across Rhythm, including launch sequencing, messaging, channel recommendations, investment priorities, testing roadmaps, and success metrics.
  • Establish a continuous learning agenda using customer feedback, research, experimentation, performance analytics, and AI to continuously improve product strategy, pricing recommendations, customer experience, and go-to-market performance.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Capability Building

  • Serve as the primary marketing partner to the VPP organization and a strategic Product Marketing partner to Residential and C&I business leaders.
  • Influence product roadmaps, commercialization decisions, and customer experience through customer insights, market context, and commercial recommendations.
  • Define and monitor success metrics across acquisition, activation, participation, retention, customer lifetime value, customer satisfaction, and commercial ROI.
  • Present strategic recommendations and customer insights to Executive Leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Build scalable Product Marketing processes, tools, playbooks, and ways of working across Rhythm.
  • As the function grows, help define the organizational structure and hire and develop additional Product Marketing talent.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of progressively increasing responsibility across Product Marketing, Product Strategy, Go-to-Market, Growth, Commercial Strategy, or related leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success launching and scaling innovative products, services, or new business lines.
  • Strong expertise in positioning, segmentation, pricing strategy, lifecycle marketing, and go-to-market planning across consumer and/or business customer segments.
  • Experience influencing product, pricing, go-to-market, and commercial decisions through customer insights, market research, analytics, and business cases.
  • Strong commercial and analytical judgment, including experience evaluating customer lifetime value (LTV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), pricing tradeoffs, channel performance, segmentation, experimentation, and business ROI.
  • Experience designing and interpreting customer research, including segmentation, pricing studies, concept testing, surveys, conjoint analysis, and experimentation.
  • Comfortable using advanced spreadsheets, SQL or similar analytical tools, business intelligence platforms, and AI to analyze customer data, evaluate commercial scenarios, and build business cases.
  • Excellent executive communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems into clear, actionable recommendations and mobilize teams around a shared plan.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with a builder mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in retail energy, Virtual Power Plants (VPP), distributed energy resources (DER), utilities, clean energy, or climate technology.
  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, marketplaces, subscription businesses, or other industries with complex customer economics.
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies across both consumer and business customer segments.
  • Experience building a Product Marketing capability, operating model, or team from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled customer research, analytics, and Product Marketing workflows.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12–18 months, success in this role will look like:

  • Rhythm has a clear, differentiated VPP customer proposition and a growth strategy that identifies where and how we can most effectively scale the business.
  • VPP launches and growth initiatives are supported by strong positioning, customer segmentation, market insights, experimentation, and coordinated go-to-market execution.
  • Product Marketing becomes a trusted strategic partner to VPP, Residential, and C&I leaders, bringing the voice of the customer into product, pricing, commercialization, and growth decisions.
  • Customer and market insights are consistently translated into actionable recommendations that improve adoption, retention, customer value, and commercial performance.
  • Rhythm has established repeatable Product Marketing and go-to-market playbooks that can be applied across multiple products and lines of business.
  • Product Marketing is established as a scalable organizational capability, with a clear roadmap for how the function and team should grow alongside the business.

  • Innovation. Work at the intersection of energy, software, connected devices, customer insights, and emerging technologies like AI.

  • Flexible work environment. Rhythm is headquartered in Houston and supports a flexible hybrid work environment.
