Chief Mine Surveyor

About Us:

Solidus Resources is a U.S.-based gold development company backed by Waterton Mining. The company is focused on advancing the Spring Valley Gold Project in Pershing County, Nevada, and specializes in taking high potential gold assets through late-stage development and into production. Solidus applies a technically rigorous, capital-disciplined approach to mine development, with a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship, operational safety, and community engagement.

The Spring Valley Gold Project is located in the prolific Humboldt Range, an area with approximately 60 million ounces of gold endowment within a 50-mile radius. Envisioned as a long-life, low-cost open-pit, heap-leach operation, Spring Valley has a robust resource base and considerable exploration upside along a 7-mile strike length across the Black Ridge fault zone.

With a leadership team experienced in engineering, permitting, and large-scale project execution, Solidus Resources is advancing Spring Valley through feasibility, permitting, and construction, with a clear path toward operational readiness. The company’s goal is to responsibly unlock the value of U.S.-based gold assets while building a reputation for excellence in project delivery and sustainable development.

This position is located on-site at our mine in Lovelock, NV.

The Chief Mine Surveyor will lead surveying activities across mining, construction, and site projects at Spring Valley. This position will be responsible for the survey controls and systems needed to support the operation and ensure accurate information is available to Mine Engineering, Geology, Operations, Projects, and other site teams.

The role will oversee survey control, production and topographic surveys, volumes and reconciliation, project surveying, and survey data management. The Chief Mine Surveyor will also help prepare the site for an autonomous and digitally enabled mining operation.

This is an opportunity to join Spring Valley early and have a lasting impact. The Chief Mine Surveyor will build and develop the survey team from the ground up, supporting construction before transitioning into mine operations. We are looking for someone who will also help build the positive, collaborative culture we want at Spring Valley and develop a team that takes pride in the quality of its work.

Mine, Construction, and Production Surveying

  • Provide survey support for the pit, haul roads, dumps, stockpiles, leach facilities, and other mine and process infrastructure.
  • Oversee staking, topographic and as-built surveys, drill-and-blast layout, and verification of work against approved designs.
  • Support construction surveying for earthworks, roads, utilities, foundations, drainage, process facilities, and other site infrastructure.
  • Calculate and verify ore, waste, stockpile, dump, and construction quantities and support month-end production and mine-to-plan reconciliation.

Survey Technology and Data

  • Manage the collection, processing, and distribution of mine and construction survey data.
  • Use GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, UAV/drone surveying, laser scanning, and other appropriate technologies.
  • Maintain survey surfaces, models, point clouds, and databases. Support integration of survey data with Vulcan, MinePlan, and other site systems.
  • Provide accurate survey control and spatial data to support autonomous mining systems.

Safety and Collaboration

  • Ensure survey work meets or exceeds MSHA, regulatory, company, and project requirements.
  • Look for practical ways to improve survey accuracy, efficiency, and safety, including reducing personnel exposure in active mining areas.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of mine surveying experience, preferably in large-scale open-pit hard-rock mining.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading or supervising a survey team.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, or ability to obtain one.
  • Strong experience with open-pit production surveying, survey control, topographic surveys, volumetric calculations, and production reconciliation.
  • Experience with GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, UAV/drone surveying, photogrammetry, and/or laser scanning.
  • Experience with CAD, survey processing, and spatial data systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related surveying discipline.
  • Construction surveying experience on mine or heavy civil projects involving earthworks, roads, utilities, drainage, foundations, and process facilities.
  • Experience with construction staking, grades, alignments, as-built surveys, quantity verification, and working from engineering drawings and design surfaces.
  • Experience with Vulcan, MinePlan, or other mine planning softwares.
  • Experience supporting autonomous or digitally enabled mining operations.
  • Nevada Professional Land Surveyor license, or eligibility to obtain one, is preferred.
