About This Role

SpartanX is seeking a Licensed Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrical Contractor to support residential solar operations in Erie, Pennsylvania.

A current City of Erie Electrical License is required. Candidates who do not possess a valid City of Erie Journeyman Electrician License or Master Electrical Contractor License will not be considered.

This role is responsible for performing and overseeing electrical work associated with residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems while ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), City of Erie ordinances, and local inspection requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong residential electrical experience, is highly knowledgeable in code compliance, and takes pride in producing clean, professional, inspection-ready work.

What You'll Do

Electrical Installation

• Install, modify, and commission residential solar electrical systems
• Install inverters, disconnects, breakers, production meters, rapid shutdown equipment, and associated electrical components
• Complete service panel upgrades and electrical modifications as required
• Install conduit, wiring, grounding, bonding, and overcurrent protection devices
• Ensure all electrical work meets NEC standards and City of Erie electrical requirements

Inspections & Compliance

• Prepare projects for municipal electrical inspections
• Perform internal quality control inspections prior to AHJ inspections
• Coordinate with inspectors to address corrections and inspection requirements
• Ensure all labeling, placards, and electrical documentation meet local code requirements
• Maintain complete compliance with all City of Erie permitting and inspection standards

Troubleshooting & Service

• Diagnose and repair residential solar electrical systems
• Troubleshoot inverter faults, communication issues, production concerns, and electrical deficiencies
• Perform warranty and service work when required
• Identify root causes of electrical failures and recommend corrective actions

Operational Support

• Interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and permit plans
• Coordinate with permitting, engineering, installation, inspections, and operations teams
• Assist with training apprentices and less experienced electricians
• Maintain accurate documentation, job notes, and completion records
• Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to SpartanX quality standards

Qualifications

• Current City of Erie Journeyman Electrician License OR Master Electrical Contractor License REQUIRED
• Residential electrical experience required
• Previous residential solar experience strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Experience performing service panel upgrades and residential electrical installations
• Ability to read electrical plans, one-line diagrams, and permit packages
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Professional communication and customer service skills
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous residential solar installation experience
• NABCEP certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Experience preparing projects for municipal inspections
• Experience with battery storage systems (Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ Battery, FranklinWH, etc.)
• Experience supervising apprentices or electrical crews
