Part-Time Solar Site Surveyor

Part-Time | Field-Based | Residential Solar

About This Role

SpartanX is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Solar Site Surveyor to conduct residential solar site assessments and collect the information needed for accurate system design, engineering, and installation.

This position is ideal for someone with residential solar or construction experience who enjoys working independently in the field and wants a flexible, part-time opportunity.

Our Site Surveyors play an essential role in ensuring every solar project begins with accurate measurements, thorough documentation, and a clear understanding of the property's electrical and structural conditions.

What You'll Do

Site Surveys & Field Assessments

  • Conduct residential solar site surveys at assigned homeowner properties.
  • Inspect and document roof conditions, roof measurements, pitch, orientation, and potential obstructions.
  • Evaluate attic access, structural conditions, and relevant installation considerations.
  • Inspect and document main electrical panels, meters, service equipment, and available electrical capacity.
  • Identify potential shading concerns and installation obstacles.
  • Capture clear, accurate photographs of required roof, electrical, structural, and property conditions.
  • Identify potential issues that could affect solar system design or installation.

Documentation & Quality Control

  • Complete detailed Site Survey Reports (SSRs) using company-approved software and procedures.
  • Ensure all required photographs, measurements, and notes are accurate and complete.
  • Upload survey documentation promptly following each appointment.
  • Respond to requests for additional information or clarification from Design, Engineering, and Quality Control teams.
  • Maintain accurate survey records and communicate potential project concerns.
  • Follow established survey standards to minimize return visits and project delays.

Homeowner Communication & Safety

  • Communicate professionally with homeowners during scheduled appointments.
  • Explain the purpose of the site survey and coordinate access to required areas.
  • Safely use ladders and access roofs, attics, and electrical equipment as appropriate.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable field safety requirements.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent SpartanX positively at every appointment.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in residential solar, site surveying, construction, roofing, electrical work, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to identify and document residential electrical equipment and roof conditions.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and in attic spaces.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements and produce detailed field documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned appointments.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable using mobile applications, digital forms, and photo documentation tools.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel locally to assigned survey appointments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous residential solar site survey experience.
  • Familiarity with solar PV system components and residential electrical systems.
  • Experience using solar site survey software or mobile field reporting applications.
  • Understanding of roof structures, shading considerations, and electrical service equipment.

Compensation

  • $13.75 per hour plus $55 per completed site survey.
  • Vehicle reimbursement options:
    • $400 monthly vehicle allowance plus $0.22 per mile, or
    • $0.72 per mile when using a personal vehicle without the monthly allowance.

Vehicle reimbursement eligibility and any allowance proration for part-time employees are subject to company policy.

Schedule

  • Part-time, field-based position.
  • Appointments scheduled according to operational needs and survey availability.
  • Weekday availability preferred, with occasional Saturday appointments as needed.
  • Hours and survey volume may vary based on market demand.
