Stussy, Inc.

Global Deployment Manager

About Stussy

In the late ’80s and early ’90s, a brand was born from the Southern California surf scene and swept through the clothing landscape to redefine the look and ideology of casualwear. That brand was Stüssy, a label that grew organically from youth movements and inadvertently revolutionized the clothing business.

Shawn Stüssy was a surfer who used to shape his own boards for friends and locals in Laguna Beach, California. Stüssy began screening t-shirts and shorts to sell along with the surfboards as a form of promotion; his surname written in a graffiti-influenced hand style was to become the company logo. Stüssy inadvertently fell into the clothing business through his deep-rooted love of surfing, and in a few short years, people were talking within the small, insular world of surf and skateboarding in the late ‘80s. Shawn set up small showrooms in New York and California and hit the road, showing his designs to stores he respected. The brand grew during a time when epochal shifts that now frame contemporary popular culture were taking place. In the music scene the late ’70s gave us punk, while the early ’80s brought us a new DIY type of music called rap. Punk broke creative and aesthetic barriers and taught us that anyone could have a band. Rap pushed social boundaries and explored the ideas of remixing and sampling. These new ideas and territories created a new modern platform for fashion and cultural expression. The designs and overall aesthetic touched on references from a range of underground subcultures that resonated with Stüssy. This approach appealed to a worldwide network of creative youth who shared a common interest in surf-culture, skating and music. Limited distribution fuelled the desire internationally, and those who wanted the gear found it and felt a part of something bigger in the process.

With Stüssy’s success came the opportunity to travel and spread the Stüssy vibe. The clothing was inspired by an international group of musicians, skaters, DJs and artists with similar tastes; trendsetters in New York, London, Tokyo and other areas of the world were eager to get aboard this movement inspired by a network of like-minded individuals. This group of friends later became the “International Stüssy Tribe” with chapters in New York, Tokyo, London, Berlin and Los Angeles. With a strong network of tribe members wearing the brand in clubs and on the scene across the globe, the Stüssy message spread organically. The brand was committed to producing relevant, good quality clothing at a reasonable price available only at very select stores worldwide in limited quantities. This was an entirely new concept at the time, which has since been used to varying degrees of success.

About the role

Stüssy is seeking a Global Deployment Manager to lead allocation and inventory deployment across owned retail, managed partner locations, and global e-commerce. This senior role sets deployment direction, develops a global team, and partners across Planning, Merchandising, Retail, E-commerce, and Supply Chain to protect availability and improve inventory productivity.

The role will play a major part in rolling out RELEX by translating Planning needs into scalable processes, supporting data readiness and testing, and preparing the global team to adopt new ways of working. Prior RELEX experience is a plus, but not required.

This is a senior role within the Planning organization, reporting to the Director of Demand & Deployment. The manager is expected to set direction for global deployment, lead through others, develop scalable operating practices, and represent Allocation in key planning and technology decisions. The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on involvement in deployment reviews and the RELEX transformation.

What you'll lead:

  • Global deployment: Set allocation and replenishment strategies across owned retail, managed partners, and global e-commerce by region, location, product, and lifecycle stage, balancing availability with inventory productivity.
  • In-season execution: Lead allocation reviews, replenishment, rebalancing, launches, and exception management; act on sales trends, stock-outs, inventory imbalances, and supply risks.
  • Global team leadership: Lead and develop four direct reports, including colleagues in EMEA and APAC. Set clear ownership and operating rhythms, coach across time zones, and build consistent decision standards.
  • RELEX and cross-functional change: Represent Planning in the RELEX rollout by defining requirements, shaping processes, testing and validating outputs, and driving adoption with Demand Planning, Merchandising, Retail, E-commerce, and Supply Chain.

Core responsibilities:

  • Translate sales plans, demand signals, inventory targets, and product priorities into location- and channel-level deployment plans; own allocation guardrails, replenishment parameters, clustering inputs, and exception workflows.
  • Monitor availability, sell-through, weeks of supply, receipts, in-transit inventory, and open orders; use launch and seasonal reviews to surface risks, rebalance inventory, and improve results.

How success is measured:

The Global Deployment Manager is accountable for measurable improvement in customer availability and inventory productivity, using a balanced set of service, sales, and inventory health indicators.

  • Customer availability: In-stock rate; size and style availability; e-commerce availability; stock-out rate and duration; launch readiness.
  • Inventory productivity: Inventory turns; weeks of supply; sell-through; aged and excess inventory; markdown or end-of-life exposure.
  • Deployment effectiveness: Allocation accuracy and effectiveness; time to floor or site; replenishment response time; transfer and rebalancing productivity.
  • Plan and execution health: Allocation to plan; inventory balance by channel and region; receipt and in-transit visibility; exception resolution timeliness.
  • Business outcomes: Sales supported by availability; lost-sales reduction; channel service performance; inventory productivity against agreed targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–7 years of progressive allocation experience in apparel retail, including ownership of allocation or deployment decisions across a meaningful store and/or digital business.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop teams; experience working across regions and time zones is important for this global team.
  • Allocation expertise: Strong command of retail allocation, replenishment, inventory flow, size and location level performance, and in-season trading. Able to balance service, sales opportunity, and inventory risk.
  • Analytical judgment: Comfortable using data to diagnose performance, set priorities, make timely decisions, and explain trade-offs clearly to senior and cross-functional partners.
  • Systems and change: Experience with planning, allocation, or inventory systems and a track record of improving processes. RELEX knowledge is a plus, not a requirement; curiosity and readiness to lead system adoption are essential.
  • Communication: Clear, concise communicator who can build trust, create accountability, and influence partners across Planning, Merchandising, Retail, E-commerce, and Supply Chain.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
