Systems Design Engineer

SYOS is a fast-growing global robotics and aerospace company, driving the development of cutting-edge uncrewed vehicles (drones) across air, land, and sea for dual-use applications. We are committed to pushing technological boundaries and delivering exceptional products that consistently exceed customer expectations.

As a Systems Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the architecture, integration, and validation of our cutting-edge autonomous systems. You will lead the translation of stakeholder needs into clear system designs and ensure these complex systems perform reliably across all domains. This role is cross-functional, working closely with teams across hardware, software, and autonomy to deliver cohesive, high-performance solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and internal teams to gather, analyze, and document functional and non-functional system requirements.
  • Translate high-level needs into detailed, verifiable system requirements and manage them throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture, defining major subsystems and their interfaces for seamless integration.
  • Evaluate and compare technical design options to select the most effective and efficient architecture.
  • Create and maintain interface control documents (ICDs) to ensure subsystems communicate effectively.
  • Plan and coordinate the integration of hardware and software components into unified, reliable systems.
  • Design and execute rigorous testing strategies to verify system performance and validate that all requirements are met.
  •  Analyze test results, identify root causes of anomalies, and work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Serve as a central communication hub between engineering teams to facilitate system-wide coherence and collaboration.
  • Support continuous improvement by feeding test and performance insights back into system designs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in aerospace, robotics, or autonomous systems.
  • Strong understanding of systems architecture, requirements management, and system integration.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence and DOORS.
  • Familiarity with testing and validation methodologies across hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Bonus Experience:

  • Experience working on unmanned vehicles (UAVs, UUVs, or USVs).
  • Knowledge of autonomy systems and embedded software development.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic and fast-paced environment working on state-of-the-art UxV technology.
  •  Opportunities for career growth in a high-tech, innovative team.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Continuous learning opportunities.
  • Visa sponsorship for international candidates.
