About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Plow Operator to install underground utilities using vibratory and static plow equipment. This role requires precision, strong equipment knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently while protecting existing utilities and maintaining high safety standards.
Travel is required. Lodging and per diem are provided for out-of-area work.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate vibratory and/or static plow equipment to install underground cable, conduit, or other utilities.
- Perform daily pre-start inspections and basic maintenance on plow equipment.
- Work closely with locators and the rest of the crew to avoid existing utilities.
- Maintain accurate depth, alignment, and production standards.
- Follow all 811 / One-Call procedures and safe digging practices.
- Secure, care for, and protect company equipment from damage or theft.
- Complete required digital daily documentation.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members.
- Maintain a clean and professional job site.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating plow equipment for utility installation.
- Strong understanding of underground utility installation and safe digging practices.
- Ability to read and follow prints, maps, and locate marks.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Willingness and ability to travel to different states for work (lodging and per diem provided).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with ongoing testing.
- Professional references will be required and checked.
- Comfortable accepting responsibility for company equipment, including proper care, maintenance, and protection from theft or damage.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vibratory plows commonly used in fiber and telecom work.
- CDL (Class A or B).
- Experience operating a vacuum excavator.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Ability to perform basic field repairs on plow equipment.
