Position summary

Vergent is looking for a frontend engineer who combines strong development skills with a real eye for design and user experience. That combination is the heart of this role. We would rather have one person who can both build a clean interface and make it look and feel right than several who can only do one.

The primary focus is the frontend experience of our SaaS platform, including the borrower-facing portal and the operator-facing workflows our lenders use every day. This person will also own Vergent's WordPress marketing website end to end. The platform work is the priority; the website is a core responsibility alongside it.

What you will do

• Contribute to and help lead frontend development within the Vergent platform, turning designs and requirements into polished, responsive interfaces
• Partner with Development and Product to improve UI, usability and the overall user experience across the platform
• Own the development, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Vergent's WordPress website
• Build and update responsive website pages, landing pages and custom functionality, partnering with Marketing on initiatives and improvements
• Identify opportunities to improve usability, consistency and visual design across both the product and the website
• Troubleshoot frontend and WordPress issues and maintain website performance
• Take projects from concept through implementation, and collaborate across Development, Product and Marketing to ship them

Required

• Strong WordPress development experience
• Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
• Proven experience building responsive, user-friendly interfaces
• A strong understanding of UI and UX principles
• Strong attention to detail and visual consistency
• Ability to take a project from concept through implementation independently

Preferred

• WordPress development experience, including custom themes and PHP. Strong candidates without it should be comfortable owning WordPress within the first few months
• Experience working on a SaaS product
• An eye for design strong enough to improve on what is handed to you
