Job Purpose

As a CNC Machinist / Operator at VulcanForms, you will run CNC lathes and/or mills in our climate-controlled, state-of-the-art facility, making precision parts for aerospace, military and defense, satellite, and medical device customers. We hire at four levels, from operators building their skills to experienced setup machinists, and we train and promote from within. This is a 1st shift role, at our Newburyport, MA facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run CNC lathes (2-axis and live tooling) and/or 3, 4 or 5-axis mills, including work holding, kitting tools, touching off tools and setting offsets.
  • Read manufacturing drawings and follow the process sheets, drawings and programs for each job.
  • Inspect parts during production for consistent dimensional and visual quality, and support first article buy-off.
  • Monitor equipment and tooling, and escalate any breakdown or issue that would disrupt the process.
  • Set up jobs and edit programs at the machine (Levels 2–4).
  • Train more junior team members and help them troubleshoot their work (Levels 3–4).
  • Work closely with Quality, Engineering and other team members.
  • Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly, and follow safety rules.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience running CNC mills and/or lathes in a production environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Commitment to the company's health, safety and quality policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience, including setups and program editing
  • Experience with any of these controls: FANUC, Yasnac, Mitsubishi, Brother, Heidenhain
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with an offline tool pre-setter or quick-change tooling
  • Graduate of an Advanced Machine Technology course, or a machining certificate or degree
  • Knowledge of 5S/6S

Level 1: $20.00 – $27.50

Level 2: $24.46 – $33.64

Level 3: $28.00 – $38.50

Level 4: $30.00 – $41.24
