Walden Robotics, Inc.

Comms Specialist

Position Summary:

As Walden Robotics' Communications Specialist, you'll play a critical role in coordinating our communication strategy and shaping our public image. You'll coordinate the many moving parts of our external communications — media relations, PR agency partners, press, social, and public-facing content — while providing support for internal communications. Reporting to the Head of Executive Operations, this role is the connective tissue that keeps external comms initiatives on track across multiple stakeholders and work streams.

The ideal candidate is a results-driven, talented communicator who is passionate about crafting compelling messages, engaging with diverse audiences, and helping shape Walden's brand personality — someone who thrives coordinating several external-facing initiatives at once and can flex into internal communications support as needed.

Core Responsibilities:

External Communications Coordination

  • Serve as the day-to-day coordinator across Walden's communications efforts, keeping media relations, PR agency work, social content, and public announcements moving on schedule.
  • Partner with the external comms team — including any supporting agencies — to plan, track, and execute press releases, media requests, and public-facing campaigns.
  • Act as a central point of contact pulling together the various parties involved in external comms (media contacts, agencies, internal stakeholders) so initiatives stay coordinated and on track.
  • Track deliverables, deadlines, and follow-ups across multiple concurrent external communications projects.

Media Relations

  • Coordinate with Walden's PR agency on press releases, story pitches, and media interviews, ensuring materials and messaging are accurate and on-brand.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for the PR agency, keeping media outreach and follow-ups on schedule.
  • Monitor media coverage and public perception, providing regular insights and recommendations to protect and enhance Walden's reputation.

Content & Messaging

  • Write, edit, and proofread compelling content — blog posts, newsletters, talking points, and executive messaging — and review press materials drafted by the PR agency for accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Maintain a consistent voice, tone, and brand standard across external and internal communications.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design teams to produce visually effective external communication materials.

Digital & Social Media

  • Manage and grow Walden's social media presence (e.g., LinkedIn, X), including content creation, posting, and engagement.
  • Update website content and track digital and media analytics to inform strategy.

Internal Communications (Supporting)

  • Support internal communications as needed — staff updates, newsletters, intranet content, and town hall/all-hands messaging — to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Help translate external-facing news (press coverage, announcements) into internal updates so employees hear it accurately and on time.

Events & Campaigns

  •  Work with Walden's PR agency to support campaigns and events that promote Walden's image and initiatives, including press conferences and media briefings.
  • Help prepare speakers and executives for events and media appearances.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with departments across Walden to gather information and ensure accurate, timely communication.
  • Partner with the Head of Executive Operations, People, and leadership to keep external and internal messaging coordinated around organizational changes, milestones, and initiatives.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Track media, social, and campaign performance to evaluate the effectiveness of external communications efforts, providing regular insights and recommendations.
  • Gather feedback and refine processes, channels, and cadence based on results.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Communications Specialist, PR professional, journalist, or in a similar corporate communications role.
  • Strong understanding of media relations and public relations strategies.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple external stakeholders (media, agencies, partners) and concurrent initiatives.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a meticulous eye for detail across audiences and channels.
  • Experience working with or managing PR agencies, media contacts, journalists, or other external partners.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, analytics tools, and standard productivity or design software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High integrity, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in robotics, AI, or deep-technology sectors.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth technology environment.
  • Experience with communication and media analytics and reporting.
  • Knowledge of social media management, digital marketing, and SEO practices.
  • Some internal communications experience (helpful, not required).
  • Comfort with AI tools or automation to enhance productivity.
  • Passion for robotics and for building technology that improves human life.
