Site Reliability Engineer
Webull is a leading digital brokerage platform built on next generation global infrastructure. At Webull, we believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to control their own financial future. Our vision has always been to empower individual investors with the tools and resources they need to succeed financially. This commitment remains at the heart of everything we do. From low-fee trading and robust market data to advanced analytical tools, we are committed to providing a seamless, top-tier trading experience.
About The Role & Team
Webull is a cloud-native fintech leader, with our global trading platform powered by AWS. As we continue to expand our trading platform and technology infrastructure, we are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help ensure our cloud environments remain highly available, secure, scalable, and resilient.
In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the reliability and performance of the infrastructure supporting our 24/7 global trading operations. You will work closely with our Development, Security, and Network teams to optimize AWS production environments, troubleshoot complex infrastructure challenges, strengthen monitoring and incident response capabilities, and drive automation to improve operational efficiency.
We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a passion for building reliable, high-performing systems. The ideal candidate takes ownership of technical challenges, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is excited to contribute to the continued growth and stability of Webull's global brokerage platform.
In This Role, You Will
- Operate and maintain Webull’s AWS production environments (EC2, VPC, ELB/ALB, Route 53, S3, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, MSK, EKS) across multiple regions, ensuring 99.99% availability for our 24/7 trading platform.
- Build and tune monitoring, logging, and alerting with CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/OpenSearch; define SLIs/SLOs and reduce alert noise so on-call engineers act on what matters.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, lead L2/L3 incident troubleshooting for cloud and network issues, and drive post-incident root-cause analysis and follow-up actions.
- Provision and change infrastructure through Terraform/CloudFormation and GitOps workflows; standardize environment builds and eliminate manual console changes.
- Operate EKS/Kubernetes clusters, including upgrades, capacity planning, autoscaling, and Helm/ArgoCD-based deployments.
- Manage IAM roles and policies, Security Groups, KMS, Secrets Manager, and certificate lifecycles; support SOC 2, FINRA/SEC audit requests and remediate findings from Security Hub, GuardDuty, and AWS Config.
- Maintain VPC design, subnets and routing, Transit Gateway, VPC peering, PrivateLink, and Site-to-Site VPN connectivity with third-party vendors.
- Design, document, and regularly test backup, cross-region failover, and DR runbooks to meet RTO/RPO targets.
- Track cloud spend with Cost Explorer and tagging, rightsize resources, and manage Savings Plans and Reserved Instances.
- Write Python/Shell/Go tooling, Lambda functions, and AI-assisted runbooks to automate repetitive operational tasks.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud operations, SRE, or DevOps, including 3+ years running production workloads on AWS.
- Solid knowledge of core AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ELB, Route 53, RDS, CloudWatch, and EKS.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills; good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPN, and TLS.
- Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Working experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD.
- Proficiency in Python or Shell scripting; Go is a plus.
- Familiarity with MySQL, Redis, and Kafka in production environments.
- Experience in broker-dealer, electronic trading, or other regulated financial environments.
- Willingness to join an on-call rotation and support global trading sessions outside regular hours when needed.
What Makes You Stand Out
- AWS Certifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, or CKA.
- Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and landing-zone design.
- AI-Forward Thinking: Interest in using AI agents or LLMs for operational automation.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English to work with our global engineering hubs.
