About the Work

Planning Center is looking for a skilled and experienced React Native Developer to join our mobile team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications using React Native. Candidates should be passionate about building high-quality mobile apps that cater to both iOS and Android users and have a strong background in React Native.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality React Native applications, collaborating with our iOS and Android developers to integrate platform-specific features and optimize performance.
  • Prepare your code for mobile builds and releases on the Apple App Store and Google Play while improving tools and processes for automated application build and release.
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality standards, share knowledge, and mentor teammates across platforms.
  • Stay updated with the latest React Native features and libraries, applying them to enhance our apps and solve complex challenges.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs using tools like Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry, ensuring our apps remain stable and responsive.
  • Participate in book and code clubs to foster continuous learning and growth, working closely with a friendly, supportive development team.

The Hiring Process

During the hiring process, you’ll have a chance to interact with several members of our team. We strongly encourage you to bring any questions to anybody you interact with. You’re interviewing us as much as we’re interviewing you.

Below is an outline of the steps in our hiring process.


  • Step One: Apply with a resume and cover letter. Your cover letter should speak directly to your interest in this position. We want to know what got you into mobile development, how your experience has set you up for success in this role, and why you want to join our team.  
  • Step Two:  If selected to move forward, an invitation to an online coding assessment to get a rough understanding of your developer prowess and skills
  • Step Three: Initial "blind screen" with our recruiter to get to know one another and discuss work and culture
  • Step Four: Interview over Zoom with the Mobile Engineering Manager you'll report to.
  • Step Five: Technical Interview with several members of the team.
  • Step Six: Pending all goes well, we'll extend an offer.


Qualifications

  1. Experience in mobile development, with a strong focus on React Native using TypeScript (3+ years preferred)
  2. Proven track record of publishing and maintaining cross-platform mobile apps with a significant user base
  3. Strong understanding of state management in React Native and the different approaches to handling it effectively
  4. Experience with native build tools like Xcode and Android Studio
  5. Firm grasp of mobile architecture, design patterns, and best practices
  6. Sharp problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
  7. Experience working closely with a collaborative team, including native iOS and Android developers
  8. Willingness to travel four times a year to connect with the team
  9. Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States

The annual salary range for this position is $148,000- $190,000.

Get out: Paid Fridays off in the summer, every other Friday off the rest of the year, a month-long sabbatical every five years, one week off between Christmas & New Year, one week off a year to serve with a globally-focused non-profit, and two weeks paid vacation a year increasing to three over time.

The pay range for this role is:

148,000 - 190,000 USD per year (Remote)
