How you will contribute:

We are seeking a mission-driven Research Associate with a strong background in agronomy or plant biology to join our growing Texas team. This job can be local or based at our Texas hub. Plantible’s commercial production facility in Eldorado, Texas, is approximately 3 to 4 hours of travel from the hub (i.e. Austin), and regular travel is required.

The candidate is expected to be on-site working closely with our commercial production facility in Eldorado, TX, and play a critical role in stabilizing and optimizing our cultivation systems. Your work will bridge the gap between scientific experimentation and operational excellence—designing and executing experiments at greenhouse and field scale, monitoring biomass productivity and quality, and supporting the implementation of improved growing conditions.

You will be embedded in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team of Scientists, Engineers, and Operators, contributing to real-time problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives. Your responsibilities will extend beyond the lab and greenhouse to include supporting infrastructure evaluations, equipment testing (e.g., harvesters and dosing systems), and environmental monitoring systems. Regular on-site work at the facility will be required to ensure accurate data capture, trial implementation, and feedback into SOP development.

This role offers the opportunity to make an immediate and tangible impact on the success of our first-of-its-kind production system and to shape the foundational protocols that will scale with future facilities.

What you will be working on:

  • Monitor and collect data on plant health, growth rates, and nutrient levels.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of sensor data, supporting plant scientists with calibration checks.
  • Execute and iterate controlled experiments, from setup to sampling and analysis.
  • Support implementation of improved growing conditions in coordination with ops.
  • Assist in scouting for anomalies and support root cause analysis.

What you bring to Plantible:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Agriculture, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 2+ years experience in a lab setting.
  • A motivation to support in a variety of areas, including lab work, analysis and outside experiments.
  • Ability to learn quickly, solve complex problems and have excellent critical thinking and data analysis/interpretation skills.
  • Comfortable independently performing analyses using lab equipment.
  • Responsible, dependable, and resourceful with a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge and experience in hydroponics/aquaponics, greenhouses or growth tents is a plus.
