About Public Law Center

Founded in 1981, The Public Law Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free legal services to low income residents and other nonprofits in Orange County. Last year, Public Law Center staff and volunteers provided over 65,000 hours of free legal services in handling over 4,500 cases benefiting low-income children, adults and seniors. The estimated value of this work is roughly $60 million in just the past three years. Our services include counseling, individual representation, community education and strategic policy advocacy and impact litigation to challenge societal injustices.

PLC is seeking an energetic, motivated professional to join our Development team.  This position provides a full range of administrative support to PLC’s special event, donor relations, and fundraising programs.  Reporting to the Director of Donor Development & Events, the Development Assistant is an important part of the team dedicated to PLC’s mission and donor experience.  

What you'll do

- Provide administrative and organizational support to the Development department  

- Communicate effectively with donors, volunteers, PLC staff and vendors 

- Event Coordination Support – Logistics, Silent Auction, Volunteer Training 

- Manages event RSVPS, prepares meeting materials, writes content for donor thank         yous/special event communications 

- Participates in Donor Outreach, in person, by phone, and/or email 

- Maintains electronic files for Development department 

- Accurate record keeping and data management  

- Assist with website content updates, scheduling meetings, organizing event supplies 

- Occasional evening and weekend work required 

- Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

- AA degree or equivalent required 

- Experience in Special Events, Fundraising or Donor Relations preferred 

- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite required, familiarity with donor databases a plus  

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and problem solving skills 

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and as part of a team 

- Must have own transportation, valid CA Driver’s license, insurance, and good driving record 

- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including booster) unless the applicant has a valid medical reason for not being fully vaccinated or a sincerely held religious belief preventing vaccination

Salary & Benefits

24.00 - $26.00 an hour

    • Monthly Bilingual Pay Premium upon successful completion of an oral and/or written test ($50 for oral premium and $50 for written premium)
