About the role
Plenful is looking for an exceptional Backend Engineer who is a generalist in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Infrastructure. At Plenful, we believe that backend systems, infrastructure, and deployment processes are essential to scaling a successful platform. As a Backend Engineer, you will be collaborating with other engineers to build reliable, scalable systems from end to end, ensuring our platform is optimized for growth and performance.
What you’ll do
- Design & refine alerting systems to detect anomalies and performance bottlenecks.
- Define observability standards focused on reliability, latency, and customer impact.
- Investigate performance issues across infrastructure, application, and database layers.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure, efficient, and stable deployments.
- Manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform for scalable, resilient environments.
- Optimize data systems (e.g., Postgres, OpenSearch) for performance and integrity.
- Ensure high availability through incident response, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
- Support security & compliance tasks such as patching, audits, and vulnerability management.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to and resolve production incidents swiftly.
What we’re looking for
- 4+ years of experience in backend engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, containers, and related services.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Postgres, OpenSearch).
- Proficient in Python; skilled in scripting and backend service development.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
- Strong grasp of CI/CD, containerization, and cloud-native applications.
- Skilled in observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Proven track record of building and operating end-to-end systems; focused on uptime and reliability.
- Solid understanding of networking, security, and scalable system design.
- Experience using LLM tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).
- Startup and/or healthcare tech experience is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
