About the role
Plenful is seeking a skilled Accounting and FinOps Lead to help build the foundation of a Day 0 Close world with our Director of Finance. In this role, you will manage core accounting operations while driving the build of finance processes into scalable, data-driven systems. We’re looking for someone who sees accounting as rule-based logic that can be automated, and who is excited to translate that logic into data, workflows, and tools that make finance faster and more accurate. You’ll lead accounting and close processes, prepare the company for audits and tax filings, and continuously improve finance operations to increase efficiency and scalability to reimagine what finance can be.

  • Manage accounting and finance operations: Manage daily accounting and finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close: Drive close processes with a focus on speed, accuracy, and continuous improvement toward a Day 0 Close vision of real-time financial reporting.
  • Oversee financial reporting and compliance: Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems: Enhance financial systems and tools by leading upgrades, automation initiatives, and process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Support planning and strategic finance: Contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning to provide actionable insights.

What we’re looking for

  • 4–8 years of experience in finance/accounting roles with a strong operational focus.
  • Proven experience in billing, invoicing, expense, and payroll management.
  • Strong background in financial systems management, process automation, and data stewardship.
  • Passion for building accounting and finance as a data-driven, strategic function.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in a tech start-up environment is a plus.
  • SQL experience preferred but not required.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
