About the role
We are seeking a hands-on QA Manager to scale Plenful’s Quality Assurance function. This is a foundational management role responsible for building team structure, driving quality accountability, and creating a durable operating model for how quality is planned, executed, measured, and improved across the product.

This role combines people management, operational ownership, and direct involvement in high-leverage quality work. You will manage a growing team of Senior QA Engineers while staying close enough to the work to guide test strategy, automation direction, defect governance, and release readiness. The role is manager-first, with selective individual contribution in the areas where hands-on leadership creates the most leverage.

What you’ll do

  • Define, lead, and scale the end-to-end QA operating model across the product surface.
  • Manage and develop a growing team of Senior QA Engineers, including performance management, coaching, feedback, and career growth.
  • Establish clear expectations for quality ownership, execution rigor, and delivery standards across the QA function.
  • Own regression strategy, release readiness, and quality signoff processes for new features, product changes, and high-risk workflows.
  • Drive adoption and maintenance of scalable automated test coverage across UI, API, and workflow-level validation.
  • Introduce and enforce QA standards, processes, and operating rhythms that scale with the team and product.
  • Own bug triage and defect governance across web applications, APIs, and backend systems.
  • Serve as the final point of escalation for defect severity, release blockers, and systemic quality issues.
  • Define and track QA KPIs, including escaped defects, defect aging, time-to-triage, reopen rate, regression suite health, flaky test rate, and release confidence.
  • Use quality metrics to drive accountability, identify weak points in the system, and improve execution over time.
  • Guide the team in applying risk-based testing methods that prioritize high-impact, customer-critical, and failure-prone areas.
  • Maintain a quality philosophy centered on evidence, determinism, traceability, and confidence in system behavior rather than test volume alone.
  • Contribute directly in targeted areas where hands-on leadership provides the highest leverage, especially in high-risk test strategy, automation direction, defect triage, and release management.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in QA, Quality Engineering, or software quality roles.
  • 4+ years in a leadership or management role within a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software environment.
  • Strong experience leading QA teams and building durable quality processes. (Non-Negotiable).
  • Deep expertise in both manual and automated testing architecture.
  • Strong automation experience across both UI and API testing.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one automation platform such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
  • Coding capability sufficient to write, review, and maintain scalable automated tests.
  • Strong judgment in test strategy, defect prioritization, and release risk management.  (Non-Negotiable).
  • Strong critical thinking and root-cause analysis skills across complex systems.
  • Clear ownership mindset and strong execution discipline.
  • Experience with bug lifecycle management, quality KPIs, regression planning, and release management. (Non-Negotiable).
  • Comfort operating as a hands-on leader who can balance people management with selective direct involvement in high-priority quality work.
  • Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with changing priorities and incomplete information.
  • Experience with healthcare systems, compliance-sensitive software, workflow platforms, or structured documents and data formats such as PDFs, HL7, and FHIR is a plus.
